okay it’s been 3.5 hours and we are done cleaning for now.
when I moved in, I had the bare minimum of herbs/spices and just kinda accumulated them from there, plus my job meant that I routinely took home sample sizes of spice mixes/expired unopened products, etc, which adds up. I was able to get rid of a bunch of old/empty containers, which is great. Moving my beans and lentils into mason jars freed up enough space that I was able to move other things from my overflow cube near the fridge into my cupboard. My big bags of rice/flour are now off the floor and into the cupboard! so much free space!! I have an empty candle jar holding all my twist ties/elastic bands!
I also chucked a bunch of empty tea canisters left over from my time working at DAVIDsTEA. realistically there is no point in the near future where I am going to have the money or need for 25 different types of tea, especially now that I drink coffee regularly (I didn’t during the DT era, hence the tea hoard) so those empty canisters are going to my parents because dad thinks they’ll be useful for his workshop/bee stuff.
the tea canister clearout also means that there’s room in my miscellaneous cupboard for all my coffee/tea paraphernalia AND most of my appliances. I’ve been storing my stuff in those cubic shelving things and this means that two of the ten are now empty and can be used for other things, like storing my dishes so they’re not in what’s technically a bookshelf and I can get my TBR pile off the floor. exciting!
