Tagged by @gallavictorious. Thank you so much for the tag! I'm so sorry it took me so long to actually post this.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
39. Though this is actually a very small fraction of my fic—I never really moved anything over from ff.net or LJ, and I used to write a lot more back when I was young and had time and less general depression.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
3. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Stone (Supernatural) (warning: this one is wincest, don't like don't click)
Who Would Have Thought? (Shameless)
Mirrorball: I've never been a natural, all I do is try (Shameless)
Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much (Shameless)
4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Sometimes I try to respond, but usually I don't. I honestly don't usually have the time or energy in the moment, and then I just forget. I don't write enough to be on my ao3 all that often, so I often don't really think about it. Also, though, I tend to feel guilty if I respond to one or two, but not all, and I always kind of feel like I'm misrepresenting the comment count by responding because then half the comments are mine. Which is probably weird, but it's just a thing. I do truly appreciate any and all comments, though. I just don't always manage to respond. Or if I do, it's sometimes several years later.
5. What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
The Things They've Left Behind (Supernatural)
6. What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
I don't know? Most of my more recent stuff, especially for Shameless, is generally pretty happy/fluffy—not sure how I would classify the happiest ending. Who Would Have Thought? (Shameless) is probably the fluffiest goddamn thing I have ever written, but it doesn't actually have an ending at this point (or a plot, really—it's just a mess of fluff). Maybe the two in the Mirrorball series (Shameless), which I think both end on a happy note.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?
Not usually. However, I went through a phase from like 2008-2010 where I hardcore shipped Sam Winchester (Supernatural) and Temperance Brennan (Bones), so I wrote a few then. I never transferred them to AO3, though, and I can't even remember what they were called at the moment. Maybe I'll dig them back up someday.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Not really on AO3, I don't think (on ff.net, yes, but it was so long ago, I don't remember any of the details). There does seem to be a weird trend, though, on AO3 where people will put extensive character hate in the comments any time they think you're amenable to it because a character does something less than perfect in a fic, so I do find myself often trying to combat Fiona and Svetlana hate in my AO3 comments.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Not really? Like every now and then a very little bit, but I don't write smut just to write smut, personally, because I'm much more interested in other aspects of a relationship, so if the sex isn't somehow essential to the story, then I'll typically skip it when writing. I often get asked why I skip the sex scenes, and honestly it's because, when I'm writing, I'm just not interested unless they serve some significant narrative purpose.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, but I had someone steal a couple of my fanvids back when I vidded for Bones. Side note: I miss vidding :(
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I know of. Though I think I've had a couple of requests that I forgot to respond to.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No. I don't have that kind of discipline. Anyone I tried to co-write with would be ready to murder me immediately.
13. What's your all-time favorite ship?
14. What's a WIP that you want to finish, but don't think you ever will?
Who Would Have Thought? (Shameless)
Though, I am still working on it—I just don't have time to devote to it, and literal years keep slipping away between updates, while there is so much more left to write (half of which is, in fact, finished, but they're just collections of random scenes that haven't been linked yet).
15. What are your writing strengths?
Nada. Like legitimately, I really don't know. I just kind of dump words on a page and then don't even proofread half the time, so I don't know. The ability to word-vomit at 5am while only half conscious?
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Everything. The worst of which is my inability to actually sit down and write unless I am unusually inspired. I have a wip right here (that I actually kind of like!) about two sentences from being finished, and I just. can't. bring myself. to write them.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
For others, I'm indifferent. Like if I read a fic like this, I'm cool with it.
For myself, I couldn't do it. After living in Korea for three years, I know the complications of google translate, and I do not trust myself to be able to create any kind of realistic dialogue in another language when I know how poor the translation tools are. The only language other than English that I have a bit of knowledge in is Spanish, but I've lost most of my vocabulary, so I can translate from Spanish okay, but I can't actually craft sentences from it myself, so I just don't trust myself to do it (although, I could probably get away with it using a translator tool because I remember enough about grammar and sentence structure to recognize problems in a translation). Even dropping in brief, common phrases I know would feel too contrived and simple for me, unless it was a phrase the canon character used regularly. For myself, I don't like the idea of trying to incorporate a language I don't know into my own narrative for novelty, because I don't want to misrepresent someone else's language, so there would have to be a really good reason for me to add anything beyond a common word or phrase in another language that a character uses regularly in canon.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Wrote for was The X-Files. In actual physical notebooks I shared with my bff. Wrote and posted online for would be Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
19. What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet, but want to?
So, when I started writing this post, Evan Buckley/Eddie Diaz (9-1-1). However, I have since written for them, but I don't have any others, so. Yeah.
I would also like to write for Maddie, and maybe Maddie/Chimney, but I don't think I have the emotional wherewithal to tackle Maddie without having a breakdown.
20. What's your favorite fic you've written?
The Things They've Left Behind (Supernatural)
I'm pretty sure only like one person has ever read it, but I truly don't care. I'm so proud of this one. It took a lot of crafting to get it to where I wanted it, and I think it's the only thing I've ever written that I wouldn't change a word of.
As per usual, I don't know who to tag because everyone I can think of has already done this. If you want to do it, consider yourself tagged!
