I participated in Godot Wild Jam #65! The theme was: 💥 Overload 💥
My team created Hackjob, a game where you work at a cybersecurity company being attacked by clowns hackers. Answer as many emails as possible to keep your decrepit computer from overloading, and don't be fooled by spam!
I created the music and SFX for the game. Feedback is welcome & appreciated :) Play Hackjob for free here!
And try out some of the other games submitted to the jam as well. There are 157 entries and everybody worked really hard on their week-long projects. ❤️

This the Autumn Day theme for a game called Mangato: Life In Taiyokawa that I’m writing the music for.
There are a few things I really tried to hit with this track. The main emotion to me is “nostalgia” which is why I chose acoustic guitar as the main melody instrument. You’ll also notice quite a lot modal mixture here, but I think its handled smoothly for the most part. Something about mid-range trumpet also just fit that emotion in a way I can’t quite describe.
There are strings here also, but they’re really subdued and even mixed a bit oddly (really old sounding). If you listen closely you can also hear me playing what are called “harp harmonics” on guitar near the end, a technique where you finger the harmonic with your right hand AND pick it with the same hand. I think it added some sort of nostalgic quality too. One other thing I did with guitar was use a slide to sort of “emulate” birds flying overhead in the intro (sort of like birds flying South for Winter). I’m not sure if that intention is heard, but its there (listen on the left side).
Lastly one of my favorite things is the 1 bar of 5/4 around 1:20 in the drums. I heard that in a Masayoshi Takanaka track once and just loved it. I think it works so well to telegraph the change at 1:23.
Anyways I hope you like this track! Listening back now, I kind of want to mix the strings in a more natural way haha.
SO to Tyler Mire for playing trumpet on this one too!
Aaaa…… tracklist reveal!! A few of them renamed/named from when I posted them earlier, maybe final now.
And here’s the very opening track, for a titles screen, simple piano.
Infinity Crisis is my made-up game of this year. Last year I made #infinity crystal, going back to my mid period Final Fantasy roots fairly in earnest, and trying write a decently "complete" and cohesive (imaginary) game soundtrack. This is like the Crisis Core to Crystal's FFVII the action-oriented prequel/sequel/spinoff that packs a surprising emotional punch, you know? With a distinct musical identity of its own — a certain amount of piano like here, but also mainly….. taiko + traditional instruments, electric cello + rock band :D
Coming SOON -- have a listen to the infinity crisis tag and pls share this post! , I'd love to get some hype going here!
Again I'm trying to cover a bunch of moods and situations and such — I'll be putting this on itch as an asset pack again — also trying to make it really work as a soundtrack-only listening ~Experience~ for the bandcamp release. I'm really hyped about it, it's been so good to get so heavily into something and I kind of don't want to let it go yet, but I'm thinking now is the point to move onto listening over and mastering these (something I actually want to try and do…) And I can always make a Soundtrack Plus later. There's recurring themes, a song, mournful bassoon … There's, in my heart somewhere, I kind of feeling as to a shape of plot and characters but nothing concrete so I'd love to see how people react and hear it!
Anyway. Track list reveal yay! And the finished product will be coming soon-Ish, after a lot of finishing work.
