I have recently made myself acquainted with some new lovely people on the Hansry Kingdom Discord and met a promising student who is looking for some research to collect on gamers, specifically the characters’ relationships with players. Please consider helping out a fellow researcher out of the goodness of your heart. I am already working to help this individual but she would appreciate it if there was more data from other gamers as well. Thank you for the engagement as always.

I am writing my master thesis this semester, in a program for Media and Communication Studies. My work is about player sexuality of NPCs in RPGs and what having or not having this character design in a game does to the freedom of the players and how it affects the power dynamics between the player and the game code itself.

For my current stage of the study, I need to interview players willing to volunteer for a quick chat with me! What’s the deal? I am looking for people of any nationality or age who would be willing to talk to me on a private Discord call. Webcam is not required! This call is aimed to be around 30 minutes long and during that, we will chat about games and your experiences with them.

My requirements are, however, that you fulfill either or both of these points:

A) You have played Dragon Age: Inquisition and Baldur’s Gate 3 at least once each.

or/and

B) You have played Dragon Age: Inquisition and Dragon Age: Veilguard at least once each.

If you are interested, please, send me a message in DMs either on tumblr (@margonite-seer) or on Discord (morena.modhros). Then we will book a time slot in the upcoming week or so. Before we start, I will also once again send you a letter of consent where everything will be summarized for the best possible transparency. Among those points will also be that I will need to record our call for the sake of a more effective data collection after transcription. But this audio file will be deleted immediately afterwards and will never be played to anyone else but me.

Howdy folks! 👋 We want to share something exciting with you all- We’ve received a small amount of funding* to undertake a research project into the power of wholesome gaming, and Paleo Pines in particular, on emotional and mental health, with a focus on neurodiverse/neurodivergent players! This research will be done through online surveys, both quantitative and qualitative.

We want to find out what parts of wholesome/cosy/peaceful gaming really promote relaxation, focus, and other positive emotions, and this research will help us identify which game design elements may contribute to this positive impact to inform future game development, both for Paleo Pines and the wider gaming industry. This first survey is a short one to gather some broader information, and to collect interest in the next surveys!
