It was said the moment Prince Maekar laid his eyes upon Lady Dyanna at his brother Baelor's wedding, he was half in love with her already. Dazed, speechless and unable to take his eyes off her, Prince Maekar refused to marry anyone except the Dornishwoman he danced with. It took little convincing for King Daeron to agree. Many said it was the most fruitful of all his son's marriages, the Lady Dyanna giving birth to seven children, including the Princess Alyssa, who was known as the Bold for her role in the Tourney of Ashford.

CASSANDRA HIGHTOWER IN GHOSTS ON THE SHORE ( game of thrones )

The Hightowers have been preparing.

introducing :: rana storm in a knight of the seven kingdoms ( a dream of storm and smoke )

All her life, Rana has only known war. The flames lick his skin, and it is only the sweet bitterness of wine that cools his blood and dulls his senses. Until another figure appears in his dreams. A girl, dark and beautiful and Dornish, with eyes like a storm that haunt him even after he remains awake. This one does not burn nor bleed. He finds her in the retinue of Lord Lyonel Baratheon, in silks of orange and yellow and a golden band on her brow, just as he dreamt. And then suddenly, the dreams change.

The weight of his gaze landed heavy on her shoulders and Rana sniffled as she wiped away the wetness streaming down her cheeks. “I am sorry, milord, I forgot myself, I will–” “Rana…” His voice was uncharacteristically soft, a tone only reserved for her as he lowered himself to the floor beside her. It was a position unbecoming of a Lord of a noble house. More tears sprung forth as he gently placed a hand on her knee, thumb rubbing the skin through her damp skirts. “How many times must I tell you to call me father?”  She sniffled again, hands clenched in her lap at his request. Her eyes darted from shadow to shadow, as though expecting Lady Dondarrion to simply appear the moment she uttered the word aloud. Her eyes dropped to her hands. “I do not think Lady Dondarrion would appreciate such a brazen display of disrespect, milord.” His hand stilled. “Ah, I see.”

She hung it next to the fire to warm and quickly set to tidying what she could. It was second nature for her, but she knew it had to be spotless to escape the wrath of the woman lounging in the goosefeather bed. Lady Ellyn stirred at the movement. Rana froze for a moment, shoulders tense as she began to wake.  “Must you move so loudly, dog? The seven hells themselves can hear your steps.”   The Lady of House Dondarrion gave the appearance of a brilliant jewel, with long golden curls and sapphire blue eyes, but snarls and sneered marred her face, turning her inner hideousness outward.  “Forgive me, milady,” Rana curtsied, folding the sheets against her stomach, “I did not mean to wake you.”

“You must be the handmaid I sent for,” Lady Jena’s voice was small and soft, a feather light note dancing upon the tumultuous wind.  Rana nodded, casting a furtive gaze at her feet, “Yes, milady, Ser Roland tells me you were in need of one for tonight.” “Ser Roland is right,” She spoke candidly, shuffling the skirts of her chemise and robe as she pressed forward, “Mine own is terrified of storms. I thought it best to leave her among the jagged rocks and screaming seas where she belongs.” Rana’s stomach lurched, and her gaze flickered tentatively to the woman’s face. A small smirk tugged on the edge of her perfectly crafted lips. A shot of relief struck her heart.  “You needn’t look so terrified,” Lady Jena assured her, face softening as she caught sight of Rana’s gaze, delicate fingers lifting her up by her chin. Milky white porcelain against burnished gold, it almost felt a sin to let a woman of her station touch her. Lady Jena smiled, a fine, delicate thing akin to Myrish lace. “Despite what my brothers say, I do not bite.”
