Amunet and her wife, Gamila, are the Mafia bosses! The brains and the brawn respectively. They have their claws in just about everything (smuggling, drugs, politics, etc.) and basically own Coglight City (known as Neon Alley by the locals) which is one of the largest trading hubs in Lightning. Nearly all major trade routes come though.

Nothing happens in Coglight without their say so. You can't sneeze without a pair of their eyes and ears knowing about it. Despite this the city is very prosperous, most of the locals have no problem with the Neon Fangs running things and welcome their protection. Businesses with their insignia posted on the door never have to worry about being robbed, and as long as you can keep paying your dues you're safe to live your life to its fullest.

If you can't, however... well, let's just say the Fangs are not forgiving. They don't like being made fools of and if you piss them off enough they'll guarantee that you'll never be able to pay off your debt.

How did Soteria's statue get from the tangled wood to the Sanctum? (I love her accent so much!) Also, how did both Amunet and Gamila climb to power in the Neon Fang Mafia and gain major influence in Coglight City?

Soteria's statue was found by Zeare and a couple other dragons from the clan once when they were on a scavenging run (this was back when he still had his sight) When they found it it was in disrepair, abandoned, clearly no one had been there for a very long time.

It was such a beautiful work, though, that Zeare decided it was worth taking back to repair and restore. No one knew there was a spirit attached to it, and many still don't, but now the statue has a place of honor with an offering bowl in the main chamber of The Sanctum and Soteria helps keep the clan safe. So far she's only made herself known to a select few members of the clan, Zeare being one of them.

Amunet and Gamila started out as a pair of simple smugglers. Just like now Amunet was the brains and Gamila was the brawn, they were very good at what they did and eventually people with a lot of money to pay for a lot of illegal things started to take notice of them. Pretty soon they were doing more than just smuggling jobs and began to expand into money dealing and claiming a small amount of territory within the city. They built the Neon Fangs from the ground up, so they had all the power from the very beginning. They treat their members fairly and they reward their allies, so on top of being a powerful organization they're also very respected (and feared).

In truth, Amunet runs the show while Gamila is in charge of debt collection, but their authority over the family as a whole is equal. If they ask you to do something, you do it.
