Bread’s Game Journal 08/17/20: Have Money? Will Buy New Keyboard? Might Hate New Keyboard?
The following in the ()’s was what I originally wrote on the new keyboard while trying to get a feel as to how it wrote, left exactly as it was after I stopped for reasons i’ll get into below.
(So I bought a new keyboard today, I’m still getting used to it. It’s amechanical, which is a kind of keyboard I havent’ had in qquite in awhile, so I’m still getting used to all the different weird things about it in compairson to the chiclet keyboard I’ve been using since like...2016 I think? It’s a whole new thing for me! Not o m,ention I’m clearly irresponsible with money that the first thing I do when I get a little bit of money is to imedately spend $100 on a new keybaord i’m not even sure I really like, but here we are.
Have keyboards always been this loud? I guess it’s not really loud in the sense that someone is like, yelling at me, but hoo boy is it louder than the noises I’m used to coming off my old keyboard.)
In the spirit of being a total idiot, but an honest one, i’m preserving the stuff I wrote with that new keyboard up above exactly as it was. After writing that though....i’m definitely returning that thing (thank you 15 day money back guarantee!), I really, truly, cannot stand the level of noise the clicks from that thing produces, it actually gave me a headache by the end of writing what i had up there.
I know a lot of people really love that clicky noise that comes with mechanical keys, but as I discovered tonight, I really don’t! It’s actually astounding to me a little bit that it could even be as loud as it was! Like it was really loud! That said, I loved the overall design of the keyboard, not to mention quite a few of it’s cool other features (like a USB pass through on the side that’s very convenient for plugging in my headset, and a great little knob that controls my speaker volume) so I put in a replacement order on Amazon for a version of the same keyboard that very explicitly sells itself as the “quiet” edition, so hey, I guess we’ll see how it all goes!
Sorry this post is so bizarre tonight (I feel like most of my posts recently have been weird actually....sorry about that), but writing that first section was such a weird experience on that keyboard that it totally transformed my planned “Hey I bought a new keyboard and a new headset and i’m bad with money!” joke post into something more akin to “how do the clicky keyboard people live like this?” ramble.
