Transcendent - A LGBT+ lead social/raiding Guild (World of Warcraft Alliance)

My girlfriends, some friends and I started playing together last year on moonguard, while looking for LGBT safe spaces we found communities that felt less than welcoming. We often felt ostracized for speaking up for ourselves, or fetishized when we remained silent. So we recently decided if we couldn't find the home we wanted, we would create it for not only ourselves but for anyone else who felt the same way as we did. What we aim to provide is an active space to feel comfortable in and a team to do current content with that you can return to. We are a brand new guild and our numbers are small but we plan to expand and find like minded friends with which to enjoy our time in Azeroth with. We currently have open recruitment for all roles besides tanks for our raid team. We will raid in the evening 11pm EST until 2am EST (10PM-1AM Server) Tuesdays and Thursdays. The rest of the week we hope to enjoy our time together socializing and running mythic + content as far as we can push it. If you're undergeared don't worry we are more than happy to help anyone who wants to join our family catch up in any way we can. Trans dilemma: You get to play a great video game, but the player character has your deadname and it’s uncomfortable hearing other characters refer to you with that name

HUNH. So I just had this party banter between Iron Bull and Cole where they were discussing Bull and Krem’s friendly digs at each other, and how they mean camraderie, and Cole’s like “it makes him proud.” Then we have, paraphrased-

Bull: Him, huh?

Cole: Did I do it wrong?

Bull: No, I just thought, with you seeing in people’s heads and all-

And then Cole says some Cole-thing about Krem’s internal feelings on his gender. I think it’s “the armor’s right, but the body’s wrong.”

Like, that last part I think I have a negative reaction to, not because it’s necessarily a bad portrayal, but just because 1) it’s not my personal experience of trans-ness, which it certainly doesn’t have to be, and 2) I’m hyper-aware that it’s most likely a cis person writing about a trans person’s experience of their gender.

Which brings me to my more lasting discomfort with the exchange, which is that it’s two presumably cis characters discussing the trans-ness of a trans character, something that I live in fear of in real life (cis people discussing my gender when I’m not around), although it’s an inevitable thing that happens. But within that, the subtext of Bull’s statement is “oh, I thought you knew he was trans.” Which is to say: if Cole does not in fact know, then Bull just outed Krem to Cole. 

Which is certainly a thing that people do! But I don’t want to think it’s a thing Bull would do, and I don’t have enough information on How Trans Works in Thedas to posit a solution where it’s just a cultural difference, outing isn’t a thing, or some such.
