THE TEN UNDERSTANDINGS OF GAMPOPA
(Nepal- 1079–1153 -the main student of Milarepa)
Understand that external appearances are unreal, because they are illusory.
Understand that the mind is empty because it does not have an own existence.
Understand that thoughts are momentary, because they occur due to multiple conditions.
Understand that the body and speaking are impermanent, because they are conditioned phenomena.
Understand that the consequences of your actions are unavoidable because all the pleasure and pain of beings stems from karma.
Understand that pain is your spiritual friend, because it is the cause of renunciation.
Understand that pleasure and joy are the demons of attachment because they are the root of samsara.
Understand that being too busy is an obstacle to merit, because it hinders spiritual practice.
Understand that enemies and obstructors are your teachers, because they provide with inspiration for the practice.
Understand that all is of only one nature because phenomena do not have their own nature. These are the ten necessary understandings.
DIEZ COMPRENSIONES de Gampopa:
Comprende que las apariencias externas son irreales, porque son ilusorias.
Comprende que la mente es vacía, porque no tiene existencia propia.
Comprende que los pensamientos son momentáneos, porque ocurren debido a múltiples condiciones.
Comprende que el cuerpo y el habla son impermanentes, porque son fenómenos condicionados.
Comprende que las consecuencias de tus actos son inevitables, porque todo el placer y el dolor de los seres provienen del karma.
Comprende que el dolor es tu amigo espiritual, porque es la causa de la renunciación.
Comprende que el placer y la alegría son los demonios del apego, porque son la raíz del samsara.
Comprende que estar muy ocupado es un obstáculo al mérito, porque impide la práctica espiritual.
Comprende que los enemigos y obstructores son tus maestros, porque generan inspiración para la práctica.
Comprende que todo es de una misma condición, porque los fenómenos no tienen naturaleza propia.
Estas son las diez comprensiones necesarias.
