I can't get over how this kinda goofy-looking scene actually happened in the book and that it in fact felt to Frodo like Sauron punched him in the face

Now that I have that background template for characters I can put any design on it and it immediately looks better. I wanted to render nicely this guard design but I wasn't very satisfied with the process so I'm leaving it as it is. It could look better, but I want to move on to other things.
