Ganzhousaurus was an oviraptorin from the Nanxiong Formation of Nankang County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, China, and as such like all of its fellows from that formation, lived in the Maastrichtian age of the Late Cretaceous, between 72 and 66 million years ago. Its exact cladistic placement within Oviraptoridae is fairly questionable, as it had a mixture of primitive and advanced oviraptorid features. It lived alongside many other oviraptorids like Nankangia and Banji.
