I remember hearing once that Rachel Berry was written (or at least altered) FOR Lea Michele. And I remember thinking to myself, "if that's the case then Lea must be an awful person." Because, let's face it, Rachel Berry was a GARBAGE HUMAN BEING. I don't even have to list all the ways because many of them are blatantly obvious. They don't even try to hide how awful the "protagonist" is, even though they do try (and often fail) to get us to side/sympathize with her bad behaviour.

Therefore, I was not at all shocked when it turned out that Lea is, INDEED, also a garbage human being. And that the higher ups on the set of Glee excused/promoted her behavior. For real, though, who was actually fucking surprised?
