Hey everybody! I know its been a very long time, but I wanted to let you all know what I’ve been up to! After my last post about a year ago, I had been working on my portfolio to get an internship in the US. However, when that didn’t work out for me (and honestly, at this point Im really thankful that it DIDN’T), I decided to look for a publisher for the children’s book I created as my graduation project in graphic design. Then things just went WILD. Before I knew it, I found a publisher and now I work as a freelance Illustrator and Author. Its INCREDIBLE :’D I still have to get used to this new life, but I couldn’t be happier! I get to write my own stories and watch my little world of garden dragons slowly come to life!

Also I wanted to apologize for being inactive for so long. So many things have happened and the longer I stayed inactive, the more scared I got on checking on this blog and probably getting overwhelmed by messages of people complaining about my inactivity :’D But when I finally checked, none of you actually sent complaints...which was quiet a relief, thanks a ton for that <33 Truth be told I’ve grown very nostalgic over the last few days. I’ve been going through this entire blog, remembering the great times I had with Ayasha and with this fantastic community. And the little stories I shared here still hold up surprisingly well! Ayasha will always hold a very special place in my heart. She made me rediscover my love for writing, and if it wouldn’t have been for her, I would’ve never gained this loving community that still follows me over my art blog!

So yeah, this is what happened and why it took me so long to come back to this blog. MLP has changed quiet a lot. I still watch it, but I dont really hold the same enthusiasm for it anymore. But that doesnt change that I still love the characters I created here, and that I still care about the stories I wanted to tell. Ayasha will never really die. I dont want her to die. I may not find the time to revive this blog, but I want to revive her somehow, someday, if its through a fanfiction or an entirely new unique concept. I miss her and I know a lot of you miss her too. Thank you all so much for your everlasting support, watching me grow from an insecure teen into a confident* artist <3

Are the Garden Dragon books going to be translated into English? It looks like something my Mom would really like, she's obsessed with dragons.

Aww man you have no idea how much it means to me to read that people are still interested in my Gardendragon books 😭😭💖

I HAVE been working on and off on an English translation myself actually! But I'm currently stuck on the Gardening chapter, which has been rEALLY hard to translate due to me having to double-check my plant register for potential invasive plants. Since the original German version strictly orientates itself on plants native to GERMANY, I have to make sure I don't accidentally recommend plants that would be INVASIVE in the UK! I think I'd genuinely need the help of a British botanist to go over everything...

I have to admit I'm currently floating in limbo with the books. I've been investing most my time in other projects like my pokemon comics, commissions, new merch such as my Herds of Epona cards... mainly due to the fact that I don't know where to go to next with my books. Just submitting them to a publisher without any Vitamin B is almost a lost cause with how many thousands of submissions publishers get each day.

I REALLY want to republish my books but I know I'd have greater chances if I'd know more people within the industry with direct contacts to publishers or book agents. I need to meet someone who REALLY listens to my pitch and recognizes the potential the Gardendragons hold for a worldwide release. I have THREE MANUSCRIPTS in my folder for TWO NOVELS and the main guide book for crying out loud!!

I have also been thinking about self-publishing, but it's the same issue: I need people who'd HELP me with this, I can't do the book layout by myself and I also would have to do a TON of self-advertisement and that's a ridiculous amount of unpaid time to invest...

I guess I'm waiting for the universe to tell me what to do next. I'm not giving up on the Gardendragons, I've put WAY too much work and heart into them to ever abandon them and I've SEEN the results first-hand of how they positively affect both children in adults in appreciating nature, growing more aware of their surroundings and reshaping their gardens to be a paradise for both humans AND insects. The books had the EXACT EFFECT on people I WANTED it to have, IT'S A FREAKING GOLD-MINE MAN!!!

But for now all I can do is keep going, work on the translation whenever I can and hope for new people to come into my life to help me find my next step on this journey 😟😔🐉🌺💖

Finally got around to illustrating some of my book characters!! This is (most of) the family of my main protagonist Fio, a Red Clover Dragon! We've got Fio's parents: His Dad Garth and his mother Fauna, who is the leader of the family clan. Freya and Fallon do not have their feathers yet in the first two novels, but this will be their "adult" plumage in the third novel, which I'm currently working on.

One day I want to make full-body reference sheets too, but those will take a while to get done 🤔 Especially since I'm still missing Fio's aunt Agave, two of his distant cousins along with their mother and Garth's best friend Bakula. AND Asha. Goddamn. So many pink dragons to design...

YES I've seen the Field Guide Kickstarter, at this point it gets shown to me on Instagram EVERY DAY, the algorithm sure knows my interests 😂 It looks like an awesome book and I both LOVE that it's being so well received and at the same time hate that I have such bittersweet feelings about it, because it is exactly what I've been dreaming to publish myself for years and it's just. Frustrating that I'm still exactly where I left off 2 years ago. I'm happy the Kickstarter is such a huge success, it gives me hope people could get just as excited once my Gardendragons get republished again, hopefully in a big way! But a little insecure gremlin-voice inside my head makes me also afraid people will think of me as a copycat, even though my book has been written and illustrated LONG before in 2016 already 😂

Technically I know nothing is truly original, the concept of flower-based dragons is not unique. And I know my Guidebook will be VERY DIFFERENT, especially since my book would not be tied to DnD, it's more about connecting science with fantasy, a gardening book that teaches about insects and flowers THROUGH dragons. All my flower dragons are the size of flowers or smaller and are supposed to live in the real world, with the intention of teaching kids and adults about our native flora and importance of wild bees, as they live in a symbiosis with the dragons. And at the final chapter you get to learn what to plant in your garden to create a habitat for both dragons and bees!

I shouldn't be disencouraged, I shouldn't be envious or sad, just because I haven't found a new publisher or book agent yet, but I just want my Gardendragon books to be translated and republished SO BADLY but haven't made any new contacts yet that could help me reach my goal 😂

I should REALLY work on more illustrations or even animations to at least make my little dragons a bit more known on the internet. I'd love to see them flourish again ;w;

Hey just wanted to say that I love your books and wanted to add a little story of what happened when I took "Die sieben Gartendrachen und ihre Freunde die Bienen" with me to work.

I work with kids and showed it to my group. My kids adored your art and several just took it and stared at the pictures for a while. I got lot of "these look just beautiful" from the girls in my group and even some of the boys were excited about the little dragons.

I later also showed it to a coworker, which send a picture of the book to her daughter. The daughter, she is currently training to be a graphic designer, instantly asked my coworker if she could rent it for a day or two. The next day my coworker told me that her daughter asked if she could just keep the book and is now searching for your other books and art. She also plans to draw some pictures centered around bees, because of your art. I hope am not annoying you with this, but I also kinda wanted to tell you this story.

I am SO SORRY that my books have become so hard to find, stories like these make me both so happy to know that my books are loved and that they still manage to enchant, but also sad that they're basically all sold out at this point, at least until I have found a new publishing house 😭

I know of ONE last german online shop that has a few copies left of my intitial garden dragon guidebook, if you want me to send you the link, let me know, I'd love to help!! Otherwise you can probably only find them on sites like Ebay or second-hand book shops like "Medimops".

Stories like yours definitely help me remind myself just how much it's worth to keep up hope and get these books republished, it NEEDS to happen again 😤✊

I had the honor to work on a really big Commission for a lovely Mother of three, who wanted to gift a custom-made illustration of my Gardendragons to each of her children!

Her kids are huge fans of my books so it was a blast to work on these, on top of all getting paid to draw detailed compositions of my own Dragons?? HELL YEAH, WHAT A DEAL! I loved it :D
