Jim at the start of Our Flag Means Death Season 1 and the end of Season 2
# dog energy/cat energy but with all the ofmd couples
I love them (and need more fancy disguise hijinks in season 2)
Just thought about Oluwande telling Nana that Jim left… her solemn acknowledgment of his pain: “La vida es dolor,” the way there’s a slight quiver in his quiet confirmation, standing in the dim light where, so recently, he was so happy and hopeful… “La Vida es dolor.”
And now I’ve got water in my eyes, what the hell
I think about Oluwande’s self effacing acceptance of pain and impermanence, though he loves so deeply and fully, and has EASILY given up chances at freedom and opportunity because he wants to be with Jim… and I go nuts!!! I bite! I gnaw! I suffer!!
I think about Oluwande taking the money he and Frenchie stole and redistributing it to the enslaved people on the ship! I think about his fragile little voice asking if he might “just sleep in the corner” with John and Frenchie! I die!!!
I think about Oluwande saying “Just my friend… just my friend.” About Jim- But Jim DOES love him!! Jim came back for him, and was ready to begin a real life together!!! (Scream)
I’m climbing the walls!!
Imagine your OTP
A: Let's play Titanic!
B: [snorts] so I'd be the iceberg and you'd go down?
A: No [pulls out flipcharts and projector] we're discussing famous theory icebergs in detail.
B: Oh I'm SO going down on you later.
