Starting 2020 with this beautiful restaurant in Parkdale, "GARLEEK KITCHEN" . . . 📸 Fried Chicken Momos with Chili . . . This is the place for you to find a unique, yet familiar, flavor in whatever dish you try🤗! . . . Chef, Tsering Phuntsok AKA KARMA was born in Tsum, Tibet where he started learning his culinary roots from his grandmother. His passion for cooking started by watching her, then she taught him her "Secrets❤" . . . When he was young, he joined the monastery and began traveling around Asia, such as Nepal and India. While he was there, he mastered Nepalese and Indian flavors on top of traditional Tibetian Cuisine. Then he moved to the USA in the early 2000s when he met his love. Beautiful Italian lady. And of course, he learned how to cook Italian pasta and sauces as well 🍝! . . . Now, he opened Garleek's kitchen to share his passion with his lovely wife for food from around the world here in Toronto for us to try!! . . . Garleek Kitchen is a true hidden gem💎 . . . My personal favorite from Garleek Kitchen is their fried momos and all the other kinds of momos - don't forget to use their homemade hot sauce🤤. . . . The food at @garleekkitchen is designed by Chef Tsering Phuntsok (Karma) with elements and influence from Tibet, Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, and Vietnam. The love of food and it's preparation was shared with him by his Grandmother, and in turn he shares it with the warm and friendly #GarleekKitchen staff, who devote their culinary skills to us - the fans. Garleek Kitchen seems to really have a fan following - we visited @escape_goat.to and spoke with the owner about the many restaurants in Little Tibet and it sounds as though Garleek Kitchen is very well loved in the neighbourhood! They have updated their menu to satisfy vegetarians and carnivores alike. I'll definitely be heading back for their momos, and will definitely give this incredible saag paneer another try (it was divine!) If you're a fan of lamb, give the mutton curry a try as well. Chef Karma - from Garleek Kitchen . . . He was born in Tsum, Tibet. He has experience in both western and eastern cuisine. . . . Before professionally studying the art of cooking, young Karma often went to his Grandmother’s place to watch her cook. . . . His passion began by seeing her love of cooking and, when he was old enough, his Grandma taught him her secrets’. . . . Later in his youth, Karma joined Thrangu Rinpoche’s monastery. There, he mastered traditional Tibetan cuisine. . . . While in the monastery, Karma traveled to both Nepal and India, quickly mastering Nepalese and Indian flavors. Then in the early 2000s, Karma decided to leave the monastery and move to the United States where he continued to learn his culinary skills. Furthermore, while dating his now wife, Karma cooked regularly with her first generation Italian family to master Italian pasta and sauces. . . . Chef Karma made his final move to Toronto in 2011 where he continued fine tuning his culinary skills and reinventing the flavors from his past.
