I had a strange dream where Donna Taft published her 4th book and it was a mix of the secret history and If We Were Villains, where an obsessive group of friends had to protect the main character (who was also an unreliable narrator) from their sleep paralysis demon that was summoned by showing disrespect to their ancestors and losing “the Mandate of Heaven” despite the fact the main character wasn’t a king??? I am now awake and am now realizing this isn’t a real book

They’re one of [SIR GAWAIN’S] [THREE, FORMERLY FOUR] children, I heard they’re [33] years old and [CIS MALE]. You know, they say that [HE] is known to be quite the [BULL]. I don’t know about that, but I heard that they are [CHIVALROUS & EXPLOSIVE], but I guess we’ll find out soon enough, yeah? (betty, 27, est, she/her)
Important History:
Second oldest of Gawain’s children with Dame Ragnell
Became the oldest when his older brother was killed after protecting a woman from a robber on the road
Garrin wanted to be a knight all his life and, though he was not naturally the best, he put in the effort and became a talented swordsman; he is a better jouster, however.
He now is under his father as a knight and does all that he can to impress him, though, due to their tempers, they can sometimes find themselves at odds.
Though technically Garrin is of Orkney, he has spent very little time there since his birth; his father’s love of Arthur and loyalty has kept the family at court.
Garrin does not trust magic.
Due to the death of his older brother, Garrin is extremely protective of his younger siblings and can oftimes become overbearing when he feels they are being rash or difficult though he also has the tendency to be both.
Garrin is a flirt and a romantic; he very much buys into the ideal of courtly love and his favorite adventures are ones in which he gets to save fair maidens from certain doom.
Important Canon:
Though Garrin is a new character, I’m taking Gawain’s story roughly from T. H. White’s Once and Future King and Gawain and the Green Knight, though he is not dead as he is in the original Once and Future King, well at least not dead yet.
Gawain is too worldly to succeed in any quest for The Holy Grail, which he tells his son and thus Garrin is more focused on Holy Relics.
Gawain was one of the first to be told of Lancelot and Guinevere’s affair and he tried to keep from acknowledging it; he even stayed out of any attempt to apprehend the couple due to his friendship with Lancelot.
Unfortunately, however, his brothers went to apprehend the couple and enforce the banishment and it led to a fight were Gawain’s brothers were slain.
Due to this, Gawain’s love of Lancelot has turned to hate and this hate has been passed down. Garrin has no love for the former queen and her knight errant for what they did to his uncles.
Motivation: Garrin’s motivation is twofold: to bring honor to his family and to be the best knight he can be. He often gets in his own way however. He has been at court all his life and respects Arthur completely. He often takes his father’s motivations as his own. As one of Arthur’s own lineage (his father is Arthur’s cousin), Garrin feels that he would be a very good option to pull the sword from the stone, keeping the rule of power in the bloodline. Still, he distrusts the magic that holds the sword in the stone and has the tendency to use brute strength or charm to solve problems when humility would serve him better.
Key Relationships:
Best Friend: It takes a certain kind of person to befriend Garrin, one who is unbothered by the fiery Orkney boy, one who can calm him or at least use rationale to solve problems rather than a sword. This friend is Garrin’s counterpoint and maybe a knight like him or maybe just a long time friend. Bonus points if the friend has a magical secret that they are hiding from Garrin seeing as he doesn’t trust magic.
Heart’s desire: Garrin loves to flirt but this fair maiden stands out above the rest for some reason. Maybe it is because she will not fall for Garrin; maybe she is just strong willed enough to call him on his biases, but hers is the face Garrin sees before he drifts off to sleep.

so my new undead oc was a teen father when he was human and he named his son Garrin “(he adopted an orphaned toddler)
when his town got overrun by the scourge, he was actually out hunting game to sell. by the time he was aware of what was going on and frantically made his way back, it was too late he screamed his son’s name as loud as he could, scattering everywhere his eyes landed. trying to find hid baby
when he was resurrected, “Garrin” was the only word he knew, muttering it under his breath repeatedly
everyone just assumed that it was his name and now thats his name “shrug emoji”
Entry 3: The Black Garden
Dear Kaiara,
Last time I told you of Z’ylarix. She decided it would be more profitable to join a privateer group so we could take on more difficult jobs. We ended up joining The Black Garden. They are a fairly large group based in an airship. You’d love the ship, getting to watch as the ground disappears below you and you rise into the sky. I have to admit I haven’t gotten to see that much yet, the ship has been under repairs for most of my time with the group.
The captain is Garinn Armstrong. He’s a kind and energetic man, prone to randomly removing his shirt and flexing. It is an odd quirk, but innocent enough in it’s use. He is an Ishguardian Dragoon. You would assume this would mean he is a monster like the ones we encountered, but he is a shining example of the good that his people can be.
A’kata Yohko is the pilot and I think she’s in charge of repairs. She’s also nice... well until she’s throwing a Molotov in your general direction. She swears she was aiming at the guys we were fighting. I joke. She is feirce in battle and I’m happy we are on the same side.
She has two sisters A’kaia and F’cahnah. A’kaia is in charge of the med bay. She’s very kind and cute and shy around new people. It seems like her sisters try to get her to break out of her shell. I don’t know much about F’cahnah, she seems like the more reasonable one, but I’m basing that off a night of drinking.
There is another mage as well, Catherina Renard. She has been kind enough to me, however I have seen her be quite standoffish with other new members. I think my association with another mage has warmed her up to me. She often remains outside the group much like myself, but unlike me, she sometimes doesn’t respond well to invitations to join the conversation.
I worked with Aifread Crowe during a mission once. She is a skilled fighter and actor. I do not know her usual job, but we fooled a bunch of Garleans. It was much fun!
I’ve also worked with Anna and Pascal. They are a couple and are recently engaged. Anna is, was, I’m not sure what’s going on but both Anna and Pascal have changed fighting styles recently. Anna used to be a magic type who worked with summons, but now she is using a sword and shield. Pascal used a large sword and some form of blood magic? Rage magic? I’m not sure what it was, but she has left that behind due to some emotional growth and now uses a bow. They are both wonderful and I’m sure you would have loved them.
A wonderful man called Corsa’ir is also a part of the crew. I’m not sure what exactly he does. When I first saw him he was acting as a medic, the next he was fighting with a large sword, I’ve heard him speak of a group that usually weilds daggers, and he has a little flying magitech device that looks like it’s for repairs. He seems like a jack of all trades. But the way he speaks, it’s delightful to listen to! It’s an odd accent with jumbled words and odd substitutions. Like he calls the ladies doxy and night is darkmans, it’s just so fun. Only me and Z’ylarix can understand him consistently and I sometimes have trouble. You would love him!
There are others, but I haven’t spent too much time with them to be able to tell you of them. Towards the end of our most recient job a bunch of new people joined as well, I will tell you more of that, and of our jobs tomorrow.
