Look who just rode through the gates, is that [INBAR LAVI]? Hold on, it’s just [ZUHRIYYAH AL-GHARIB]. Haven’t you heard? They’re one of [JINN OF THE LAMP’S] [EIGHT] children, I heard they’re [99] years old and [DEMI-FEMALE]. You know, they say that [SHE/THEY] is known to be quite the [INTERLOPER]. I don’t know about that, but I heard that they are [BEGUILING & INSIDIOUS], but I guess we’ll find out soon enough, yeah? (tali, 22, get +8, they/them & none)
Zuhriyyah is a full fledged Jinn, at the very least equal to their father in power and most likely much more powerful than him.
They don’t care to hide the fact that they are a Jinn from the world, however they make it clear that they do not answer wishes for nothing.
Zuhriyyah has traveled the world, often using her powers to sow seeds of chaos throughout the lands they visited.
They are rather unconcerned with many of the concerns most other mortals have, seeing them as boring.
They care very little for attempting to accrue power for themself.
I’m mainly basing the Aladdin story off of the folklore as told in One Thousand And One Nights. With most of the canonical powers of Jinn coming from folklore.
Jinn are powerful spirits who live longer than humans, but are still mortal and still maintain free will for the most part.
Jinn powers include flight, minor teleportation, very limited possession, and wish-granting, though they are not exactly limited to this.
Motivation: Zuhriyyah heard that the renowned King Arthur was dying and had no heir and realized Camelot was as good a place as any to set up shop and start selling wishes. Surely many would be willing to pay with various interesting aspects of themselves to get a step up.
The Mark: Someone who isn’t fully aware of the consequences of asking for Zuhriyyah’s help. Does she gradually start corrupting them? Or does their naiveté to her true power prompt a pang of sympathy from the Jinn? She can offer them things beyond their wildest imagination, so what will she want in return? And how can she use them in her interactions with others?
The Unbeliever: This person does not care about Zuhriyyah’s powers. Either this person believes it’s all fake, or they just don’t care, or they believe that Jinn are actively malicious. Whatever the reason, they are absolutely terrified by the idea of accidentally entering into a contract with the spirit and letting them gain any leverage over them. Which of course only makes Zuhriyyah want to gain that leverage on them even more.
Quote: Anything is possible, but at a price.
Welcome to Camelot, ZUHRIYYAH AL-GHARIB! You must be exhausted after such a long journey, but once you’ve had a chance to settle in, make sure that you complete the CHECKLIST, and be ready for your first challenge! INBAR LAVI is now taken. LONG LIVE THE KING!
