Dear Vector Prime, pardon my bluntness but I'd like to know what the slag the Autobot Elite Guard did to Wasp while he was in their custody. How did he go from his normally abrasive self to a total nutcase?
Dear Wasp Wonderer,
Though four million years have passed between the end of the Great War and the present day, a state of cold war still exists between the Autobot Commonwealth and the Decepticon Empire, and treason is a serious crime punishable by a life sentence. Wasp was barely afforded a fair trial; his public defender Hurricane mounted a shoddy, poorly researched defense that convinced no one of his innocence. In a unanimous vote, the jury found Wasp guilty and sentenced him to a life imprisonment at the Garrus prison complex on Elba.
Wasp’s arrogant, cocky façade was always a persona that he’d deliberately adopted to buoy up his own low self-esteem; born into the most common body-type on Cybertron, he’d always quietly feared that he’d always just be one of a thousand identical cogs in an oppressive, grinding machine. It took only a few thousand years of solitary confinement before that mask broke in the most horrifying way imaginable, twisting him into a crazed sadist who could only focus on getting even with his mortal enemy.
So now we know he was on it, but what got Flywheels on that DJD list?
I do at least have a suspicion. We know he used to be a worker at a prison camp where he would implant horrific devices called “mouth flowers” on prisoners there, something he's quite gleeful to do.
But by the time he's with the Scavengers he’s more subdued, shall we say. Less sadistic. He's also found a religion, which he seems quite devoted too.
So was he turned off torturing? Is that it? For whatever reason, perhaps finding that religion, he didn't want to do it anymore? That would be one way to get on the list fast.
And, while we're on the topic of Flywheels, there's also the matter of how did he wind up on Garrus-9 too? Is that and getting on the list by any chance linked?
I know a lot of people haven’t read the pre-mtmte/ex-rid stuff, and like, I don’t blame you, a lot of it is...not great. But I would really recommend everyone read Last Stand of the Wreckers. You hear about a lot of the important stuff that happens in Last Stand at various points in MTMTE, but it’s kind of glossed over, and you definitely miss a lot of the impact.
Last Stand of the Wreckers:
Shows exactly what Overlord did at Garrus-9, and why everyone is so terrified of him
Shows why Fort Max was in a coma when he was introduced in MTMTE, and why he hates Prowl so much for not sending help (I know this is touched on in MTMTE, but I promise it’s not the same)
Talks more about the Aequitas trials
Has more of Prowl being kind of a bastard if that’s a thing you enjoy
Like @timelessmulder has been talking about lately, it provides some pretty damn clear motivations for Perceptor to not want Rodimus--the guy who brought Overlord on board--to be in charge of the Lost Light
