Gary Mauer (with Elizabeth Southard)
Gary Mauer & Jennifer Hope Wills, POTO Broadway 2007
Midnight gifing Gary Mauer because *shrug* I'm not well.
Phantom of the Opera VIDEO:
Gary Mauer, Jennifer Hope Wills, Jason Mills (u/s)
May 9, 2007 (Broadway)
This is my favorite publicly-available POTO video (the OBC POTO video does not count).
The cast includes Jennifer Hope Wills (my favorite Christine!!!), Gary Mauer (one of my favorite Phantoms) and my favorite Andre/Firmin team (George Lee Andrews and David Cryer; Trivia: David Cryer is two-time Emmy Award Winner Jon Cryer's Dad).
AND... One of the best POTO "bloopers" of all-time: Piangi does NOT come out for "Magic Lasso", and that is brilliantly "covered up" by Meg (Heather McFadden) and Madame Giry (Sally Williams, understudy!)
There are so many touches and near-kisses in Gary and Beth's MOTN. I can't handle it.
I love when, in the final lair, a Christine definitely sees Erik sneaking up behind Raoul, lasso in hand, and she just nopes out. Makes no motion to help Raoul or stop Erik, she's just, runs away.
I know it's just a blocking thing: Christine's usually looking away or not paying attention, but here she definitely saw Erik and the implications of that are hilarious to me. Even the way she runs upstage almost makes it look like she's getting him in line with a mark.
Raoul: Christine! CHRISTINE, DID YOU LET HIM LASSO ME?!
Christine: No! (...>.>)
(Here I imagine @birdstooth Erik looking smug)
(Trio here: Gary Mauer, Jennifer Hope Wills, Jason Mills)
I paid for in-flight WiFi and wrestled a thousand YouTube clip converters to remind everyone of how indescribably beautiful Gary Mauer's "BEEEE" was in the Dallas, 2006, production.
It has been brought to my attention (yelled at me several times) that I haven't done a Phantom poll in a while, so thanks to @meilas, I have finally come back with another poll for you all!
Which Phantom would you like to take you on a picnic?
Earl Carpenter—takes you to a slightly muddy riverbank, though it's still nice
Saulo Vasconcelos—takes you to a big meadow with trees and lots of lavender
Ben Crawford—takes you on a picnic while "in no way trying to be sexy"
Laird Mackintosh—it's raining, so he instead puts together an indoor picnic
Cooper Grodin—only takes his wife, glassprism, on a picnic
Jeremy Stolle—prepares an elaborate meal and takes you to a flower garden
Ethan Freeman—takes you to a treehouse and makes peanut butter sandwiches and m
Thiago Arancam—tosses an empty basket at you and tells you to go away
Uwe Kröger—only made a salad, spends the whole picnic running away from bees
Gary Mauer—takes you to a picnic by a pond, you feed ducks your leftover bread
Socks came up with a lot of these, so big thank you to them for their help!!
Reblog if you would like to see me create more polls! If you have a request for my next "Which Phantom Would You Like To" poll, please feel free to send me an ask or a dm! I have so much fun with poll requests! :D
**Ethan’s full description is “takes you to a treehouse and makes peanut butter sandwiches and milk.” It has been brought to my attention that the last bit got cut off.
