So, you want a Garyados on Pokemon Go?
But 400 candies is a hUGE amount, right? There’s no way you want to catch 400 magikarp. Well, have no fear because I’ve done the math! (against my better judgement, cause I'm not good at math.)
So I figured out that the following equation (3*x) + (1*y) = z would allow me to figure out how many Magikarp I’d need to catch in order to get the 400 candies where x is the amount of Pokemon caught, y is the amount of candies got from transferring to Willow and z is the total amount of candies.
For example. I’ve caught 3 Magikarp and transferred two because my personal preference is to have at least one of every Pokemon with me.
Therefore (3*3) + (1*2) = 11 candies.
We just then have to plug in the correct numbers to get 400 which after some trial and error (because I’ve previously stated, I’m not good at math) I came to the following conclusion.
(3*101) + (1*100) = 403
So bad news everybody, you have to catch 101 Magikarp to get that Garyados. However, I’ve heard stories of camping? which is where specific Pokemon turn up in the same place every time so if you find a spot that spawns Magikarp every 5 minutes, it’ll only take you 8 and a bit hours to get that Garyados.
Also the equation works for every Pokemon but doesn’t take into account the use of candies to power up so if you’re a trainer who powers up as they go you’re gonna have to adjust your numbers to compensate for that.
TLDR: Y’all need to catch 101 Magikarp, good luck fam.
