Gary Peacock and Marc Copland – Insight
“Insight fall short of remarkable, although it is still a good, solid demonstration of the positive things that can happen when two seasoned jazz veterans get together.” – Alex Henderson/AllMusic. Gary Peacock – bass Marc Copland – piano

Gary Peacock / Ralph Towner – Oracle
Oracle is an album by American jazz bassist Gary Peacock and guitarist Ralph Towner, recorded in May 1993 and released on ECM January the following year. The AllMusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4½ stars and stated:”This set of duets by bassist Gary Peacock and guitarist Ralph Towner, as one might expect from an ECM album, makes expert use of space and has its quiet moments. But there is a surprising amount of ferocious interplay between the two musicians. They may play at a consistently low volume, but the set of originals has a few rather passionate grooves and a little more energy than one would have predicted.” Personnel: Gary Peacock – bass Ralph Towner – classical guitar, 12 string guitar
Gary Peacock, Keith Jarrett, Jack DeJohnette – Tales Of Another
Just revisited a true jazz treasure! Tales of Another is a 1977 studio album by legendary bassist Gary Peacock, featuring the incredible Keith Jarrett on piano and Jack DeJohnette on drums — the very first recording by the trio that would later become the iconic Standards Trio. 📀 About the Album:
Recorded on February 2, 1977, at Generation Sound Studio in New York City.
Released later that year on the legendary ECM label.
Produced by Manfred Eicher.
Six mesmerizing compositions by Gary Peacock, blending improvisation and deep musical conversation. ✨ Standout tracks include “Vignette”, “Major Major”, and the three-part “Trilogy”. Peacock later recalled his satisfaction with the session: "It was a real eye-opener for me, because I was thinking - Am I going to have to explain what to do and tell them this and that?… It was such a relief to say to someone, 'Just do whatever comes next', and know that person understands what you're saying from a musical point—not an intellectual point—actually understands it and says 'OK'. Reception Jarrett biographer Ian Carr called the recording "one of the classic albums of the 1970s," and wrote: "Even on this first meeting, the trio has an almost mystical rapport and there is a joy and vivacity in the whole performance which seems to make the music glow… the music has a vital maturity and youthfulness." The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow awarded the album 4 stars and stated: "These musicians (who are equals) have played together many times through the years and their support of each other and close communication during these advanced improvisations is quite impressive. It's a good example of Peacock's music." This album isn’t just jazz — it’s a milestone in the evolution of one of the most intuitive and groundbreaking trios in modern music.
