Ah yes the famous Gas Explosions
October *21st 1971 saw an explosion at Clarkston Toll shopping centre.
*note dates differ by a day, some state the explosion happened on 20th, however the plaque commemorating this tragic event says 21st of October.
Few remember the Clarkston Toll disaster, when an explosion, the equivalent of a 1,000lb bomb, reduced a row of shops to rubble. Twenty women and two men died in what was one of Scotland’s worst peace-time disasters. While some dark days continue to catch the eye, others, like this, are quietly filed away and forgotten.
For three days, prior to the disaster, a strong smell of gas had been noticed by both customers and staff of the shops at Clarkston Toll. The gas company had been called out and spent the previous night digging up the road in search of the source of the leak. On the morning of 21st October, the 26 shops that made up the Clarkston Toll centre were given the all-clear.
The force of the blast blew out the front of 10 shops and ripped the heart out of the modern shopping centre. A passing bus took the full force of the blast. One passenger died instantly. All the others were badly injured. More than half the shops simply disappeared. The car park above the shopping terrace collapsed, with more than 20 vehicles adding to the debris.
The rescuers toiled on through that night and the whole of the following day. Passing pedestrians joined police and firemen desperately tearing at rubble.
More than 100 police officers and 20 fire-brigade units, and every available ambulance in Glasgow was called to the scene. They transferred casualties to the Victoria Infirmary and Hairmyres, where every available doctor and nurse was called in for duty, helped by colleagues from as far afield as Dumbarton, Glasgow, and Paisley.
I talk about personal things while filming my precious babies.
Okay so is anyone in the uk going to investigate why we’re having so many gas explosions or are we just supposed to accept nothing dodgy is going on

He sent a message to the kid, warning him to be in the car in five minutes or less before he sics Happy on him.
Peter never had the chance to reply back.
Tony had sighed after sending the message, shaking his head fondly before placing his phone snuggly into the front pocket of his suit jacket. He had glanced towards Happy in the front seat, opened his mouth to speak and then –
The explosion.
His world instantly went black.
