Thirteen hours after going on strike, workers who prepare in-flight meals, snacks and beverages at the Ottawa International Airport have reached an agreement with their employer. Roughly 50 employees with Gategourmet walked off the job at one minute past midnight, according to Teamsters Local Union 647. The strike came after employees voted 35 to 5 to reject a deal Thursday, the union said. At around 1:45 p.m. Sunday, the union reported that its members had voted 29 to 2 to ratify a new agreement that includes wage increases of at least 10 per cent, more guaranteed full-time work, and improvements for scheduling, pension, and paramedical coverage.
