Gujarat CM inaugurates High-rise Smart Police Station in Rajkot
Gujarat Government is sustaining and steadily working to bring the development in the state. Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani announced a CCTV camera network and smart police station in Rajkot. The development works will cost at Rs. 10. crore.
People of Rajkot give me many things and even today, whatever I am, I owe to it Rajkot said Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani. Industrialists in Morbi contributed Rs 5 crore fund to police through which Morbi Police had set up a CCTV network across the town with about 100 CCTV cameras. Shri Vijay Rupani is wondering after seeing the smart police station where any criminal’s criminal record will appear from the forensic data bank by scanning his thumb impression within 15-20 minutes. In his speech Shri Rupani said locals should come forward and give him proposals about what to do for development of Rajkot. In response someone said: GDCR. After becoming the CM he really takes a big step towards the growth of state and I’m sure that he will work like this in upcoming time.
Recently, The Iron Yard was the location of The Global Day of Code Retreat for the Tampa Bay area. It was my 3rd time facilitating the event, and as always, it was an amazing experience. #GDCR is a global, day long, intensive coding practice event. It is a chance for developers to get out and practice their craft in a fun and inclusive environment. It is also an opportunity for developers to learn, grow, and challenge themselves in ways they may not be able to in their day job.
Hosting this event always has me thinking about deliberate practice and the ways we learn as developers. It could be said that, as developers, we are always practicing our craft. We write code every day, that alone should count as practice, but its not the same. Deliberate practice puts our mind into a different state, we have reframed the problem. This is no longer about reaching a deadline or rushing towards a goal. It becomes about us and the code. It becomes about trying those things we may have been interested in, but never tried.
At a certain point in every retreat, it is reiterated to the participants that this event is not about the problem they are given, it is about them. I tell them that today is about writing a single line of code, the perfect line of the code, code that you are proud of, that excites you, and makes you happy. This is where learning happens, this is where tangential learning can really take off. Where we can improve our skills in ways we had not even tried to, and its fun, not work.
I believe, that one of the biggest take away from this event, is that the learning and fun that occurred does not need to only happen once a year at this event. It can, and should, be something that we engage often. We owe it to ourselves to never give up on learning and to always be setting aside time to have deliberate practice.

Yesterday was the Global Day of Code Retreat. In 150 cities across the world, software craftsmen gathered to practice, and learn with and from each other.
At this year's Latin American Agile conference in Lima, a peruvian organizer named Uzi mentioned the GDCR to me, asking me if anybody will host this event in Buenos Aires, Argentina (the city were I, and other fellow Cinchcasters, live).
I contacted Carlos Peix, from Kleer.la, an Agile coaching and training firm, and he kindly offered to host it at Kleer's office in Buenos Aires. On our side, Cinchcast sponsored by providing the food and drinks required by attendees to keep brains working for a full Saturday.
Carlos is a seasoned facilitator so he offered me to facilitate with his help, it was a great experience. Everybody had fun practicing TDD, XP and Object-oriented design in a playful environment, which led to interesting discussions.
During a break we had a chance to hangout with other groups in Mendoza (also Argentina) and Lima (Perú)
I'm looking forward for more of this activities, with Continuous Improvement in mind (eg. high attendance is hard on weekend events!)
