So the Neopets Geekify TTRPG is dead!! tl;dr 1. They didn't hire anyone who knew how to make a ttrpg 2. They were severely underpaying anyone working on it. (They were paying some of the people working on it $400 for 5 months of work? Some were volunteers???) 3. Weeks would go by where nothing got done 4. They released the beta test without Neopets input and blamed Neopets publicly for this

The premise of this blog:

“What if I, with my ADHD and CFS and million unfinished projects and zero knowledge of Neopets, somehow made more of a deliverable than a whole team with $427,000 and the official backing of Neopets?”

Since they didn’t seem to have made any kind of actually playable product beyond a 5e reskinning that was inappropriate to the subject and confused everyone, the bar for this is pretty low.

My goal for this is to end up with at least one published minigame that captures the feel of Neopets, so that fans can have a TTRPG to play.

Since I don’t know anything about Neopets, the first step is to create an account and learn at least one thing about Neopets.

I feel like a lot of the current Neopets merch is pretty hit or miss

Merchandise Neopets should make if they REALLY want my money

Printed editions of the plots.

Rerelease The Darkest Faerie on multiple systems. Maybe even a remaster or remake.

I know this one's a stretch, but: Battledome item replicas. LARP foam or NERF ones will do and fit my budget better, though actual steel replicas would be awesome.

A Curse of Maraqua deck for their new Battledome cardgame. I actually have high hopes this one will happen since there's already a Meridell one.

Posters based on each plot.

Replicas of the on-site character plushies, rather than just the various pets. My inner middle school kid would be thrilled to get a real life Magax plushie, and current me would be thrilled to get a Captain Scarblade plushie.

Neopets addresses concerns over the Geekify TTRPG beta, citing lore and brand misalignment, demanding fixes, transparency, and timelines.

the ttrpg is cancelled, don't count on any refunds but maybe you'll get the avatar at least...

I know they're notorious for long shipping time and delays but could anyone that has bought pins through Geekify tell me about how long it took for their order to be shipped out? Like actually sent out, not just the label being created. It's been nearly 2 weeks since the last update where they gave me a tracking number but they haven't handed it to USPS yet.

Some incredible people have been working on a Neopets ttrpg! This has me thinking about my favourite Neopets for the first time in years. Wouldn't it be awesome to be a Kougra mage? Or a Kyrii knight?

So I was working at a different location today, and I was wearing my Neopets pins because why not? I wanted to show them off.

Had a customer tell me she loved them, and I said thanks. Then she says this:

"Okay, so what were their names? It was Rapunzel, and..."

I stared at her blankly for a moment, but politely corrected her and said "this is actually Hannah the Brave and Kanrik."

🤣 I got a kick out of that, though.
