What an amazing event for all ages and all levels and for such a great cause. @runaustralia in Geelong had it all today, the level & numbers of competitors, the weather, a new harder course and plenty of people cheering along the way 👏🏻 Our crew did awesome with 5 in the top 20 overall Males and 3 in the top 20 overall Females. We had a big crew racing and it is a great feeling to contribute and help improve the Geelong Children's Hospital. All other results will be in #gpcworld tomorrow. Does it get any better than this? We are very lucky to train & live near the Great Ocean Road. We are now on taper for @ironmantri in Busselton but this does not mean that you spend your time sitting in the couch, watching movies & eating pop corn. It is important to keep the body moving & to keep some tension on the muscles so you do feel too lethargic. Tomorrow, we will have over 20 of our coaches athletes doing @runaustralia in Geelong. Good to see Corbo back in training with us. Yes, he is not a legend and yes, he is on the left of the photo 😜 While Zoe Adams is getting ready for #IMKona in October, Corbo just entered #IMWA where we should have over 15 GPC members racing on December the 3rd. The new GCCC Fyansford course was grueling and quite scenic along Buckley Falls. It was a course for back markers and a back marker won. Well done Justin Curran. Next week, it will be a real fitness test with a fast 10kms mass start. Feel free to do an invitation to try a race, it only cost $12. After a day focussed on riding, today was a day focussed on running with the @gcmarathon and Geelong Cross Country Club at Grammar School. Well done to Dave B and Jason Mc who ran 3:08 & 3:22. Paul Cations ran a PB in the half marathon with a 1:52. At GCCC, Sue Andrews won the overall and Coach Kate had the fastest female time just in front of Shari L. That was what you call hard core today over the 5 windy Paraparap lap. Geelong Cycling Club put an awesome race together as always. We felt safe and well directed on the course. Well done to Zoe A, Coach Kate and Kat H for grabbing the top 3 spots overall Female. We all know what Zoe and Kate can achieve but Kat and Ally D were in the mix right until the end too. Well done Kath and Ally, impressive stuff. Coach Graham grabbed 4th in D grade and Coach Steph got smashed in the sprint as always grabbing 6th in B grade. At the Surf Coast Trail Marathon, Coach Peri put a great event together and our crew loved mixing a good work out with pain and good scenery. What a brilliant day to race Geelong Cross Country Club 5kms at Waurn Ponds today. We had 30 GPC athletes using the distance as a heart rate test today so that we can give them some accurate training zone to exercise and race in. Coach Kate Bramley was the fastest overall Female today, closely followed by Zoe Adams and Shari Livingston. In the Male section, Ron Thomas grabbed 2nd overall and Matt Lyon 5th. As we speak, Adam Touzell (that I coach in England) is racing Cotswold Classic 1/2 Iron Distance and he is 5th overall on the bike.
