We have an area of low pressure developing off the South Carolina coast line that will bring strong winds, rain, and snow to the Northeast. Satellite imagery depicts a fairly organized low with features showing lower level convergence and upper-level divergence. If this low occured in June, we would likely be talking about a subtropical system. However, the storm's development is something to note as hurricane season approaches during an El Nino year. #gspwx #scwx

Impactful winter weather is not expected during this time.
Sunday – Monday
A storm system is expected to pursue a southerly storm track across portions of the Southeast, early next week. Cold air in place across the region may support a snow, sleet, and freezing rain event over portions of the western Carolinas and NE Georgia as moisture associated with the system overspreads the region.
Tuesday – Thursday
Impactful winter weather is not expected during this time.
Additional Notes
There is a considerable difference in ECMWF/GFS model guidance regarding the track of the low pressure expected early next week. Model trends should be monitored for the potential of a significant snowfall event over portions of western NC.
Immediate preparations are unnecessary at this time.
