It wasn’t long before the younger twins became toddlers. Sonnet had Gem’s hair and Matcha Swirl’s eyes while Cinquain had Vitrail’s coloring except for the red eyes he picked up from Gem. Vitrail was happy to have such a colorful household.
It wasn’t long before Limerick and Ode were big enough to play on their own and learn to be a bit more independent. Limerick grew up with his mother’s hair color but his father’s everything else in terms of coloring. While Ode had his father’s hair and Matcha Swirl’s eye color. The adults of the Prose family all doted on the boys and were eager to meet the new little one or little ones though Treble and Vitrail hoped for a little girl.
Ode and Tamarind became even better friends as teenagers. With the frequency of Tamarind and Limerick’s mutual visits, Ode wondered if it was only a matter of time before they ended up not-quite married like Mirage and Regulus.
The other kids would often talk and play with each other or with Gem which gave Treble and Vitrail time to themselves though they weren’t necessarily looking to expand their family further if fate rolled that way they would be pleased.
Life in the Prose household became pretty routine after a while as the issues with money became less frantic at bill time thanks to the fish sales they had.
Though Treble and Vitrail loved spending time with their children, they also enjoyed having time to themselves without them around. Limerick and Rondeau became regulars at the Children’s home which led to Mrs.Quarry making the joke that they might as well live there and Ode found himself talking to his cousin Light and Aunt Ivory more often as high school approached. Gem was content with watching over the toddlers though the toddler phase was not going to last long.
Despite the kids making new friends, they did play together at their house and interact with their family members though that was becoming increasingly rare for the older boys.
Life was pretty calm after Wind’s passing. Vitrail learned she was pregnant again and since money was tight most of the food came from Treble or Gem’s fishing. Though all the adults cared for the infants.
Though Gem had been elderly for quite sometime, no one quite expected it when she passed.
