I just realised I never shared this gorgeous taxidermy rabbit I saw at a shop in Bath! I completely fell in love with her, but unfortunately I do not have £250 to spend on taxidermy :(

If you can’t see, her name is Whisp, she’s two years old and died from a mouth abscess. I think she’s the most beautiful piece of taxidermy that I’ve ever seen.

And some other photos that I took. The shop is called Tillius for anyone interested, and they also sell clothes.

Just a note that any ‘human’ remains you see in the images are resin replicas!

He’s an old teaching specimen of a cedar beetle, and to be fair he was only £15 and from a vintage shop. He’s so beautiful, does anyone have name suggestions?

Made some bone jewellery

Bones cleaned at last! They’re sitting in the sun now to dry and hopefully whiten a bit as they were very stained.

We have (as far as I know) a sheep skull, a fox skull (incl both lower jaw pieces), a fox canine and various other teeth, sheep teeth, ribs, vertebrae, proximal phalanxes and a jawbone.

these were ethically sourced. by that i mean they were given to me by a friend who lives on a farm and frequently finds bones from animals that have died of natural causes. no animals were killed for these bones.

Lil batty I was offered! (I said no because of complicated legalities, and there’s a high risk of bats having rabies, and I have pets at home)

But I was sent some amazing photos, so please appreciate them!

I fear I may be a bit too soft for the whole bone collecting shebang…

I was just removing some feathers from Jill (my magpie roadkill) before I buried her, and i just felt so…bad. I was talking to her like she was still alive, like how I would to my cat when I’m getting gunk or matts out of her fur, saying stuff like ‘I know, I know, I’m so sorry.’ And the likes. And as I buried her, I just gave her a little pat on the head. (She was soooo soft, it was insane. I had gloves on, but I could just tell her feathers would be lovely to stroke)

Idk. I feel bad. Does anyone else feel like this?
