Redraws of an old gem au of mine. An au of which, as I was redrawing, had thought of several changes since the last time I’ve drawn them. Maybe I’ll type up the new changes some other time.

Ace - Clinohumite
Luffy - Red Coral
Sabo - Kyanite
Marco - Benitoite
(Whitebeard is (a?) White Diamond who has rebelled against the other diamonds for their mistreatment and destruction of other living things thinking that gems and diamonds in particular are superior.)
Law is a human from Earth.
Koala is an escapee human from the Zoo who then comes to live with the Sun Stone Pirates.
Luffy lived in a little beach city with a friend of the family (Makino) and occasionally visited by his grandfather Garp who provided him financially. Luffy was told his mother gave up her physical form for him but as he knows nothing of her nor what she looks like, he doesn’t really feel anything on the subject. His father he has no knowledge of him, not knowing that he is a revolutionary (plot twist there are human rebels against the gems).
Luffy has a vague knowledge of the gems and hints there was a fight (a war) from a gem that wandered through who was fond and fascinated with humanity. Sard (Shanks) departed, leaving a straw hat he treasured.
While rummaging through Garp’s things (he was specifically told never to do) he comes across a room that leads to a basement that was completely empty except for a weird floating red bubble with an orange gem inside that Luffy cannot resit touching (popping, oops).
Tada Clinohumite forms and is very confused to see a random starry eyed kid (a human?) next to him when he takes notice of the gem peeking out of Luffy’s vest and he gets angry. It was a Red Coral (Roger) that had popped and bubble him for who knows how many years ago. (The war was being lost and Ace was a close Gem under Roger and Roger knew this so he popped and bubble him and gave the bubble to a dependable human (Garp) to protect him. He did the same to Sabo who was inseparable to Ace.)
He holds resentment towards Red Coral which he transfers to Luffy who just wants a friend. However he can’t hold it as Luffy quickly grows on him and ends up helping him find Kyanite. He knew of Rogers plan and reluctantly didn’t fight it knowing that Ace would fight even a pointless battle to the death. But he keeps them to himself. (Obviously this bites him in the ass later on.)
Luffy is the one that gave Ace and Sabo their names. After learning their are more then one Chinohumite and Kyanite out in the universe, he names them because they are who they are and their special to Luffy who quickly adopted them as his brothers. Luffy teaches them how to be human in a sense and takes care of them. Ace and Sabo protect Luffy and teach him the basics about being a gem including the use of his powers he had no idea he had. Eventually they split to the outskirts of the city and create their own home to live as a family. (Luffy is the one that made that necklace for Ace.)
Benitoite (Marco) was cracked just before Ace and Sabo were bubbled. He was lost shortly afterwards. He was cracked attacking in vengeance of White Diamond who was shattered (oh no Whitebeard is dead?! Maybe I don’t know). (Marco can either heal but can’t within a bubble or it takes a long as to heal himself or can heal other gems but not himself idk)
Law, the too young doctor in training, is pestered into being Luffy’s friend and is a bit dragged into his family circle. Ace isn’t pleased but Sabo warms up to him as he does Sabo.
Koala was a Zooman who escaped with a bunch of others when a Sunstone gem broke in to release them. Being a child born in the zoo she had no where else to go but grew up with stories of Earth yet at the same time was fascinated (and utterly terrified) with gem culture. (In this au, there are more then one zoo and they are constantly getting new ‘shipments’.) The Sunstone took her in and raised her. (Gem was shattered and she joined the revolutionaries maybe??)
Like I said I have so many idea’s for this!! I’m honestly tempted to open an askblog just so I can explore it further.
Colors and designs may still go through changes later but for now I’m satisfied.
