Defteros has a keen sense of smell, which is something he aquired during the period in which he wore the mask. Since his nose was covered by thick leather, he always tried to smell other things apart from leather, so he soon managed to somehow smell scents even from inside the mask.

During his time at the volcano, this 'ability' of his helped him detect the points in which sulfur was concentrated in, allowing him to avoid geysers and small eruptions.

This abilty renders him extremly sensible to other people's scents, so it is not strange if he recognizes you before seeing you- Espacially if you have a 'strong' scent. (Ex: Albafica's roses, Asmita's lotus and incense...)

℧ Headcanon

His relationship with Aspros is/would be a hard one.

He does not hate him per se, but he harbours something akin to a boiling rage in respect of his twin. Some hidden, deep part of him still refuses to believe that Aspros is cruel and twisted, but he is aware of the truth and there's no way he will back down.

Defteros refuses to be the 'replica', the 'second' and the 'shadow'. He will fight for himself, as he had done years ago. If you talk to him about his brother, he won't immediately growl at you and try to bite your head off, but don't expect him to be happy about it.

℧ Headcanon

I am not sure whether this could be defined as headcanon or not, but I will put it here anyway. Defteros is more or less a cannibal. He's not the one that will live off only human flesh, but it is not a problem for him to eat and kill other people, especially if he considers them to be weak.

The weak shall be overpowered and eaten by those who are strong, no one is exempted from this, unless you efficently convince him that you are much more worth than a piece of raw flesh. Good luck with doing that, remember what Tenma had to do in order to gain Defteros' trust? Exactly.

He won't make you bath in lava, but you'll have to put up with snarky comments and, if the situation reaches that point, insults. That's what you get when you want to be friends with a demon.
