Fucking THIS! I keep thinking about the first interaction we see between them. When Marie first introduces herself, she kind of fangirls- she is literally a fan of Jordan and thinks they're so cool. She sort of puts her foot in her mouth with the fangirling (a bit cringe) but it's okay because Marie is just so genuine and sweet. (Despite everything she is still so kind).
And Jordan, due to their own experience, is probably immediately skeptical. They aren't used to something as genuine as Marie's immediate affection and kindness. But they give her this look. When they first meet. It's so clearly curious and interested. My theory is that Jordan definitely knew who Marie was too, before their first meeting - they did deny her request to join Brink's seminar. And I think, that was a self-serving, sabotaging move - Jordan knows Marie is powerful and doesn't want to compete with her.
But then they really meet her for the first time, and it's all "fuck." They immediately jump to insulting and defensiveness because they shouldn't like someone they just met so soon.

the thing that really sold it for me was during the whole club sequence in episode 1. they tried SOO hard to act like they hated marie just for them to give her the softest heart eyes whenever she wasn’t looking…i made a post pointing this out but like even after the whole “i’d love to reject you from this outing” thing, they still looked at marie like they were seconds away from proposing marriage. i mean…

i am so convinced that had andre not accidentally slit that woman’s throat open, something would’ve happened between them, like they would’ve danced, maybe hooked up or something, idk but SOMETHING would’ve happened, i’m sure of it.
Jordan and Marie are so iconic but so unexpected. When that hallway scene happened where it’s implied Jordan likes Marie I was blown away. I never saw it coming but after rewatching I see that it was very subtle but there in hindsight. Their chemistry is crazy. Marie has good chemistry with both London and Derek.

like, the hints leading up to the hallway scene in episode four are VERY subtle, but they’re still there!!! the tension between them was INSANE which is why i can’t take ppl who say it “came out of nowhere” seriously bc it is not hard to see there was already attraction between them.
1. the club scene in episode one. jordan couldn’t take their eyes off marie in that one scene and DIDN’T until andre caught them staring (you all know what i’m talking about…yeah, she’s cool)
2. episode two, when jordan confronts marie about taking all the credit, there was MEGA TENSION especially when jordan grabs marie’s arm and she turns around to jordan who has shifted…marie had the SAME look on her face then as she did in the hallway scene after the whole “since when do you care about anyone not named jordan” exchange. girlie was having a mini sexuality crisis then and there and you can’t convince me otherwise.
3. episode three, i mean we can all talk about the tension between them when jordan walks in the gala, glaring at marie, but i’ve always loved the scene after marie and cate are bonding over similar trauma and jordan tries lightening the mood with a joke about killing their grandpa. marie’s suprised giggle and then the SMILE jordan gives her in response????? they were GONE for each other by then they just kept denying and ignoring it.
AND THIS ISN’T EVEN ALL THE EVIDENCE!!
there are plenty of other little moments and exchanges that definitely hint toward a marie and jordan romance, these are just the most glaringly obvious to ME. and while i do admit that i think limoreau may have been a little bit rushed this season, for anyone to say it came out of nowhere would be a straight up lie.
I was looking at some gifs of Marie & Jordan kissing (as one does) and I think one of my favorite little details to come out of their scenes together is when they first kiss, Jordan put's their hand out against the wall to cushion Marie. It's so subtle but so telling in regards to Jordan themselves as a person and how much affection they have for Marie (even in this moment where they first really let themselves /like/ her).
I KNOW this is genuinely one of my favorite things about their first kiss is just like??? how SOFT AND GENTLE JORDAN WAS WITH MARIE???
like from the way they cupped her face in the beginning to them bracing their hand on the wall so marie wouldn’t go crashing into it and even the moment when they interlock fingers, like even when the kiss morphs into something more urgent and steamier, i feel like it never loses the soft gentle nature that it started with if that makes sense?
anyway, i just love how soft jordan is for marie like they can try to hide and deny it all they want but marie is fr the only person they go weak in the knees for

this author has only two limoreau fics out right now and both are SO GOOD (seriously, i can’t recommend this author enough) but i’m obsessed with this au which is why i put it on the list!
this specific fic is a vampire au in which marie herself is a vampire (a cool take on her canonic bloodbending powers) and jordan’s kinda (super) into it. it’s a three-shot, kinda marie-centric, and just all around super interesting and compelling to read. it’s still a wip and it hasn’t gotten smutty YET, but the author has promised lots of it for the final chapter!
2. Want Want? by Cherrydrama and Levie101
rating: M
i’ve recommended it on here before but seriously, IT’S SO GOOD!
it was written before episode five came out, so it’s a jordan pov, canon divergence fic on what happens after limoreau wakes up in the bed together, and i don’t want to spoil it too much, but i will say one thing: SPARRING/TRAINING AU.
this one isn’t super smutty iirc, it’s rated M, so it’s good if you like spice but not a lot of smut in your fics.
3. The Weight Of You by Georgiathewholedaythrough
rating: M
another canon divergence fic! written before episode five, it’s also a take on what happens after they wake up in bed together, only this time things get…smutty. it’s marie pov, very sweet, very romantic, and funny too.
4. two timing by diaphanouspages
rating: E
this is a slight au (described by the author as “has a weird relationship to the show’s actual canon, but just accept the violent canon divergence and move on”) in which jordan attempts to make marie jealous, which works and then they end up in bed together. starts off angsty and kinda smutty, but also turns sweet towards the end.
also slight praise kink for jordan, so if you’re into that…

another canon divergence fic taking place after episode 4 ending, but they all go in different directions i swear!
this is a study partners/study buddies au (as stated in the title) in which marie and jordan are assigned to be partners on a project for one of their classes. it gets a bit steamy, but it fades to black so if you aren’t comfortable with explicit smut, this might be for you! also, very funny and the banter between jordan and marie in it is *chef’s kiss*

Marie is powerful but if homelander really was trying to kill her with the laser why he didn’t kill Jordan who was right there too? I think he had diff goals, don’t think he wanted to kill her.
why would he kill jordan when it was obvious he perceived marie as the sole threat? jordan wasn’t the one who blasted cate’s arm off. there’s just no logical reason why homelander would even want to spare marie. like, that man is very much racist, sexist, ableist, pretty much every -ist in the book you can think of. he called her an animal for christsake! he doesn’t even see her as human!
if you go down the line of thinking that “homelander wanted to spare marie” it raises way more questions than answers. like, if he wanted to spare her, then WHY attack her in the first place?? there were witnesses on campus that already knew marie and jordan were trying to save people; jordan was the one getting the board of trustees to safety and ashley even offered marie a goddamn spot on the seven to stop cate! attacking her just creates more problems than solves them and it makes HIM look worse in the eyes of the public.
if he truly thought marie was the threat (which is most likely) he wouldn’t have spared her bc…he was literally called to take the threat out…ashley literally told marie to kill the threat, cate, and the same message was probably relayed to homelander.
the only reason i can think of that homelander would make it look like he killed marie while actually sparing her is if VOUGHT told him to do that. but again, that doesn’t make any sense since vought was gonna offer marie a spot in the seven and they really didn’t have any reason to take out marie.
here’s what i think went down: homelander probably wasn’t told much about what was actually happening at godolkin, he was just called down to handle a situation, no questions, comments, or concerns. he made the incorrect assumption that marie was the threat that needed to be handled (bc he’s RACIST) and he tried to kill her. obviously, this wasn’t the case, since marie was trying to STOP the massacre, but bc homelander is vought’s biggest asset (and bc he’s already in deep deep shit for killing that civilian and him killing an innocent girl would NOT help that situation), vought chose to spin it so that marie and co. looked like the bad guys, while cate and sam were the heroes. to protect homelander.
also, who’s to say he didn’t try to kill jordan? we don’t know anything that happened directly after homelander blasted marie. maybe ashley or someone stopped him before he could go too far and randomly kill a bunch of kids. and since jordan in male form is laser proof, they def could’ve survived it, but again, we really don’t know what actually happened in the aftermath.
just…can we PLEASE stop acting like homelander trying to kill marie is something that’s WILDLY out of character for him? this is completely on brand for him. stop making excuses and stop trying to discredit marie! bc at the end of the day, that’s what this is really about: people just don’t want to admit that marie is stronger than homelander.
Just had a thought. Marie can probably sense heartbeats, right? My thinking is that she’ll eventually be able to tell peoples specific heartbeats. Like, for example, she can recognize Emma’s heartbeat from Andre’s.
The way I imagine it, something happens and Marie and Jordan get separated- and it’s one of those high risk, tense situations where they don’t know if the other is alive - and Marie finds them through their heartbeat.
oooh yes i love this! it makes even more sense when you remember that she is able to distinguish other people’s blood from each other, so the next obvious step would be recognizing heartbeats/distinguishing heartbeats from one another.
