Yoneda Kou Poll: How To & Instructions

This post contains the instructions for the poll that I mentioned in my last post (if you don’t know what I’m talking about, please read there first). The aim is to collect a bunch of questions for the survey that is being conducted in celebration of Yoneda-sensei’s 10th anniversary as a mangaka this year. Since it’s very likely that only questions in Japanese will be answered in the 100 Q&A section that will be part of the fanbook coming out this November, I’m offering to translate the 10 favorite questions of the fandom which we are going to determine in this little poll.

So here’s the plan:

Step 1.) Think of a question you would like to ask Yoneda Kou.

Step 2.) Submit it to the poll by sending it as an ask to my side blog @tadayoedo-shizumazu. You can send regular asks, or anonymous ones if you’re shy, I don’t mind either way. But you have to do it in the time frame specified below.

Step 3.) I will close submissions of questions either after 4 days OR after I have received 30 different asks. Whichever comes first.

Step 4.) I will publish the asks I received (the ones that qualify according to the instructions in this post) on my side blog.

Step 5.) You can then vote for your favorite questions for one week by liking them. You may reblog the questions if you want to promote them, but only LIKES count as a vote.

Step 6.) After the end of the voting period, I will close the poll, announce the 10 winner questions and translate them into Japanese for you. I will post the translated questions on both of my blogs, so you only have to pick out the ones that you like and copy&paste them into Part 3 of the Yoneda Kou survey when you answer it.

That’s it. It works out pretty well in my head, but we’ll see how it goes. ^^;

All of the announcements will be made on my main blog @domeyashiro, so you don’t need to follow my side blog to take part in the poll. I’m just doing the technical part over there, because I would like to keep posting my regular stuff here in the meantime and don’t want to mix everything up.

Regarding the questions (just common sense stuff, but please read):

Please send every question as a seperate ask, because otherwise we can’t vote properly. You can send as many questions as you like, just do it one by one. I will delete asks that contain more than 1 question.

I will not accept questions regarding Sensei’s personal life (number of children, her age, stuff like that), because it would be a) pointless to ask them as she is a very private person, and b) considered rude. Stuff like how she likes to spend her holidays should be fine, since it’s not too personal.

I will also not accept questions about future story developments of any of her ongoing works (e.g. Will Yashiro and Doumeki have a happy ending?) because Sensei wouldn’t give out any spoilers anyway.

Lastly, and this is my personal preference, I won’t accept questions that can be answered with a simple YES or NO*, because I find them boring and just not worth the effort.

If I receive only 10 (or less) asks during the 4 days submissions period for questions, there will be no poll, and I will simply translate the questions that I got.

If I receive a question that I can answer instead of Sensei (because I’ve seen it in an interview before that I haven’t gotten round to translating yet or so), I will do just that, and post the answer on my blog.

*I will make one exception to point 4 which is whether Sensei plans to continue with Yorube Naki Mono one day. Because I love that one and am dying to know.

General Dart Rule Instructions

Darts rules around the world are basically controlled and set by two main member organizations:

• The BDO (British Darts Organization), which originally set all the rules for the game of darts and is the official darts organization of Great Britain, the leading country for darts.

• PDC (Professional Darts Corporation), a competing British darts organization that manages its own World Darts Championships and is the leading professional darts organization in the sport. Both organizations work under the official national organization for darts worldwide, namely the WDF (World Darts Federation).

By 1992, the BDO and PDC were both part of the BDO, but a separate group that included 16 of the best professional players were frustrated with the lack of opportunities to make a professional living and take the sport to a new level. Dimensions created the WDC - World Darts Council, which later became the PDC - Professional Darts Corporation.

The BDO controls and determines its own tournament rules internally, while the PDC tournament rules are determined by the DRA (Darts Regulatory Authority).

DRA is responsible for development of all the rules within the PDC. The DRA is also responsible for maintaining discipline within the PDC and for the anti-doping program which is carried out in collaboration with UK Sports. To be able to take part in one of the PDC tournaments, one must also become a member of the PDPA (Professional Darts Players Association).

There are two types of dart rules that affect all dart players:

• The general rules of the game as shown on the dartboard of the clock and

• The tournament and championship rules of the game, which apply to all league, tournament and championship darts players.

Darts General rules of the game

1. The dartboard must be set up or held so that the centre of the target is exactly 1.73 meters high.

2. The minimum throw is 7 feet 9¼ inches or 2.37 meters from the front of the board when measured horizontally.

3. The forward or throw line must be clearly marked and at least 18 inches long.

4. The starting order is determined by throwing the closest target with an arrow. The winner will take first place in the first leg and will play odd-numbered games alternately. The loser shoots first in the second leg and, if necessary, alternately with even legs.

5. Any arrow can be used.

6. A throw consists of three arrows, except when a game ends with a minus.

7. Arrows cannot be thrown again and only arrows that hit the board count towards your score.

8. Upon request, the Score Announcer can tell a player what number he has scored or what number he needs for the game, but not how to get it.

9. If the number of points required for the game is exceeded in the course of a throw, the throw will stop and the number of points obtained during that throw will not be taken into account.

10. The inner torus (50) counts twice as much as the outer torus (25).

General Instructions

Warming Up & Cooling Down

The workouts will range anywhere from 40-80 minutes, but only 30-60 minutes will be spent lifting weights; the warmup and cool down should take both a good amount of time and effort, as they are key for injury prevention. The warm up is particularly important due to improve concentration and to stimulate the sympathetic nervous system to optimise the hormonal environment (leading to elevated heart rate, core temperature and consequent vasodilation etc.)

Warming Up

Before beginning each workout, complete the following warmup:

10-15 minutes of light cardio (light walking, biking, elliptical etc.) OR 5-10 minutes of higher intensity cardio (jump rope, running etc.) or calisthenics 

Mobility work: rotator cuff, core, and hip mobility work

Stretching

Light lifts: circuit of two lower body, two upper body (push and pull), and one core/full body exercises.  Example (10-20 reps each, 1-2 rounds): drop & reach, bodyweight squats, pushups, supinated pullups, bicycles 

Following the general warmup, use light weights or your body's weight to warm up the specific muscle groups to be trained that day.

Cooling Down

At least 10 minutes of stretching, focusing on the muscle worked

Optional 5 minute cool down (walking, elliptical etc.)

Nutrition

Nutrition will affect your aesthetic outcome significantly, but it is beyond the scope of this program to give information about this topic. However, I advise against following this program on a severe caloric deficit (e.g. in preparation for a bodybuilding contest or summer vacation), as the intensity scales up as the workouts progress, and the lack of concentration in the gym may lead to injury.

The Phases

The 7 different phases in the program follow the principles of periodisation, and are calculated to produce maximal results based on program research and trial and error. This depends on both physiological reasoning (changing stress to force accelerated muscular adaptation) and on psychological (simply to avoid boredom and enter the gym excited and ready to go). 

The names of the phases match the common names associated with rep ranges and rest periods most commonly followed in the given phase, but they are by no means directed only to produce that goal (i.e. "Endurance" does not only improve strength endurance). 

There is a period of one week (which will be closer to 10 days depending on your scheduling) between each phase. The purpose of this is two fold: a deload phase to recover both mentally and physically, as well as a chance to practise your technique and coordination in the exercises in the following week - so it isn't a complete rest at all. Rather, you will be doing light lifts that are part of the following phase, to practise form (mirror/camera checks!) and get used to potentially new movements. As the program is very taxing, it is not recommended that you skip these deload weeks, even if you feel ready to progress.
