Some things are just so ingrained into my mind, but once I examine them they're silly, useless and ridiculous.
Like, I was raised to the standards of "the dishwasher MUST be fully loaded before turned on!"
And sometimes I stand in my kitchen and get overwhelmed with the dirty dishes, because the dishwasher is already packed, but I KNOW that if I reorganized everything, there would be room for more, and then I get so stressed and angry and overwhelmed.
And it never occurred to me that I can just. Turn it on. I can run the dishwasher half full. I don't have to go through the whole overwhelming process of un- and reloading just because my dead grandpa insisted in "saving energy and water" by having it fully loaded.
This is not his dishwasher. It is mine. My dishwasher, my kitchen, my dishes. My rules.
I don't have to stick to his rules just because I learned them somewhen.
And the freedom this knowledge will give you is. I have no words for it. It's power. It's control. It's de-whelming.
