International Association of Conference Centers Annual Conference
Last week was the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC) 2013 Annual Conference. I was lucky to get the opportunity to spend three days at Eaglewood Resort & Spa and meet and network with many industry leaders.
I heard from Simon Bailey about the Vuja De Moment which is a reverse of the French déjà vu. “It is strange but this has never happened before.” It is all about creating moments that are new and inspiring and thinking in a new way.
I was chosen by IACC’s Emerging Trends Committee to speak on a panel Hot Topics: From Tom Hanks to Taylor Lautner – How Generational Preferences Will Transform the Meetings Marketplace. The Emerging Trends committee which I am actively involved in did a study on generational preferences in the meetings industry. You can see what they found out here. I answered a lot of questions based on my opinions on why people choose certain conference centers and what aspects are most important to different generations. You need to be able to cater to the needs of all generations and in order to attract all ages you need to be flexible in the design of the room, public spaces and food and beverage options.
The other workshops I attended were Making The Most of LinkedIn, Understanding Emotional Intelligence and Conference Center Industry Trends. The IACC Annual Conference was beneficial for me. To stay current and relevant in your position you must continue to learn.
