Major Illuminae spoilers

I’m re-reading Illuminae (again oops) and I just really realized how much Kady Grant aka my queen goes through

-breaks up with Ezra

-has to escape her home

-cousin is likely dead (is dead)

-mom gets transferred

-she is denied transfer SEVERAL times

-has to deal with finding out the secrets of the ship while dealing with ptsd, survivors guilt, and probably depression

-has confusing rekindled romance with Ezra

-finally is able to trust Ezra again but then he has to go risk his life

-deals with her own trauma from reading the files while also supporting Ezra

-gets to the Alexander, risking her life if they had actually caught her

-checks Hanager Bay 4 seeing the bodies (giving her more nightmare fuel)

-her mom is not there HER WHOLE FAMILY IS DEAD AS FAR AS SHE KNOWS

-her hope is partially destroyed

-Dad is on Heimdall and she assumes dead

-then on her way to find Ezra she has to KILL SOMEONE for the first time

-watches bryon go crazy and then he tries to kill her

-watches byron(probably her best friend) kill himself in his last sane moment while he LOOKS AT HER

-finds out Ezra is dead and it was Aidan

-loses her hope and is set to die

note: i will update this when I finish my re-read

And she is still a bamf who helps the unaffected civis get off the Alexander and then tries to stop the Lincoln by repairing Aidan single handedly. So oops this low key turned into a summary but I love this series so much

Needed You

Ushijima's confident in his abilities as a volleyball player. Sometimes, he needs the reassurance that he still has the talent to continue as one.

"Is this the stadium?" I asked, leaning against the railing of the stands. "Wow! So big!"

Tendo lightly chuckled, shaking his head to stand by my side.

"Mhm. I'm sure Ushiwaka will be happy to see you too."

It was meant to be a secret between Tendo and me so I can surprise Wakatoshi during his match in France. With Wakatoshi often traveling and away for his matches as a volleyball player, I'm often left home alone with Wakatoshi's former teammates from his days at Shiritorizawa visiting.

I giggled and moved from foot to foot in excitement.

Tendo smiled again and shook his head at the sight of my jersey barely reaching my knees with Ushijima written under Wakatoshi's jersey number.

"What?" I asked, noticing Tendo's stare. "Do I have something on my face?"

Tendo shook his head and moved to stand next to me.

"Nah. Ushiwaka's lucky to have you is all."

Then, the match began.

One look at the stands and Ushijima smiled to see me, leaning against the railing, and cheering him on.

"That jersey engulfs them completely," Hoshimi commented. "Kinda cute."

Ushijima smiled again.

"Just when I needed you the most, Gene."
