Going against the grain of alternate history stories by writing an indulgent counterfactual where Hitler, Goring, Goebbels, Himmler, etc. were all beaten to death by a socialist street gang in like 1920, WWII never happened, and by 1970 the world is a bountiful paradise and we’re colonizing Mars and Venus too.

Also in this timeline Roosevelt and Stalin were gay lovers and I will be offering no explanation as to why or how.

Samus: I want to read a YA Dystopia novel where the female protag is a lazy piece of shit. Like, she’s got no ambition to overthrow the government or anything but shit keeps happening and she keeps getting dragged into shit she doesn’t want to, but all she wants is to sleep on the couch and watch reruns of Seinfeld. Pitch for a hallmark movie to make it less formulaic and boring:

It's the same basic plot as all the rest, business woman has to go to small town, Christmas tree farmer guy is snarky, they fall in love, whatever.

THE TWIST??

It's only a romance movie for these two. Everyone else in the film, is in a horror/thriller, because this Town is being plagued by a giant spider, at least Shelob sized.

The main two continue their movie while a very different movie is happening in the background of this town vs the spider that just appeared.

At the very end, when the two mains have finally confessed their love in town square, the townsfolk have rallied together and start their attack on the spider, and the couple walk off and the main character could say something alluding to the fact she could see the spider the whole time or something, and didn't want to mess up the LARP the whole town has going on

It's important to me too that the audio of the film is predominantly hallmark esque music, overlayed on big action drama music that's usually barely audible underneath but the hallmark music is pushed to swell overtop whenever the MCs come into frame

Something I’m really interested to see in Hazbin Hotel is just how Vivzie and the team are going to continue to ‘flip the script’ on well-known concepts about Hell, demons, angels, heaven, etc.

Like I’ve already discussed the idea (which I am now VERY confident in) of Charlie, our bright, upbeat, bubbly, Disney Princess of a heroine turning out to be the actual DEVIL of the Hazbin-setting, but imagine what else we might be seeing?

For example, I think it’s pretty easy to guess the show will touch on the concept of ‘selling your soul’ to a demon/devil, but in the context of what we know about the setting, I think this would have very interesting implications for Human Sinners.

Because we know from behind-the-scenes material that it is the human souls of the Sinners that make them so much stronger than the native demons. The thing that gives them their powers and immortality. But what if that soul is also the thing keeping the Sinners prisoner in Hell? The soul is generally the thing considered to be ‘damned’ when a sinner goes to hell.

So what happens if a Sinner were to give away that soul?

What if the act of a human sinner ‘selling their soul’ to a demon (say, Charlie) is re-framed not as an act of binding oneself, but of liberation? By giving up their human soul, they are FREEING themselves of the thing that’s binding them to Hell, or rather the Pride Ring. They’d be giving up their power and immortality, but they would also be free of all the restrictions on the sinners. Likely having the same freedoms we see of all the native hellborn demons like being able to travel freely through all the rings of Hell, or even travel to EARTH. It might even simply make a sinner considered a true, naturalized demon entirely.

Heck, just think about what the act ‘selling ones soul’ is typically framed as: giving up one’s freedom in exchange for wealth or power.

Which would make this possibility LITERALLY reversing the concept: By selling their soul, a sinner is trading power for FREEDOM.

And as a final point, I feel like this idea could be especially relevant to Vaggie in particular, as it feels like a very natural path and conclusion for her possible character arc. Because as much as Vaggie wants to help Charlie in her plan of redeeming Sinners, I think it’s pretty obvious that Vaggie has zero interest in ‘redemption’ for herself, particularly if she really is a Fallen Angel. I have to imagine that Vaggie doesn’t want to go (back) to heaven, she wants to stay in Hell with Charlie.

So I imagine it would be all too fitting if Vaggie giving up her soul and becoming a full-fledged demon is framed as a good thing. Giving up something that has only ever weighed her down and that she doesn’t need. Because she already HAS everything she wants in a life with Charlie.

Also, imagine if the show’s take on a ‘Deal with the Devil’ is literally just Vaggie marrying Charlie? XD
