Official Regulations for Cross-Species Cohabitation of Intergalactic Vessels
All crew and passengers, regardless of species, are to be acknowledged as sentient beings deserving of dignity, safety, and equitable treatment.
All recognized cultural practices are permitted so long as they do not infringe upon another being’s physical autonomy, psychological stability, or safety. Any conflict involving members of different species must be reported to a certified Cultural Mediation Officer (CMO).
Emergency routes must accommodate species with unique mobility (aquatic, floating, multi-limbed, crawling, gliding, burrowing), even if no such members are part of the crew.
Newly boarded individuals must undergo noninvasive screening for pathogens, parasites, or symbiotic organisms that may pose cross-species risk.
Environmental Protocols: a) Lighting cycles, gravity levels, and communal space atmospheres must be kept to the universal standard rates ensuring equitable comfort. An exception may be made if the entirety of the crew would happen to thrive better under alternative conditions. b) Vessels hosting species with incompatible respiratory requirements must maintain stabilized atmospheric zones, with regulated air-lock transitions and emergency override access. c) Species-specific habits which may be harmful or disturbing to the crew (including but not limited to loud vocalizations, radiation emission, molting, toxin production) may require individual measures to be taken and shall be put in place after consideration between Command and Crew under oversight of the Cultural Mediation Officer (CMO).
Communication Protocols: a) All official ship communication systems must support universal translators calibrated to all registered species aboard. b) No individual may initiate physical interaction, including gestures interpreted as benign among their own species, without verifying that such interaction is culturally appropriate and consensual. c) Predatory displays (including stalking stance, territorial growling, threat pheromones, or intimidation rituals) are prohibited except in sanctioned cultural events approved by command. d) Species capable of mental interfacing must not initiate psychic contact without explicit consent. An exception may be made in life-threatening emergencies, in which an investigation must be launched in hindsight to assess intention and necessity.
Lifecycle Protocols: a) Species with metamorphic, cyclic, or volatile biological stages must declare upcoming phases (e.g. molting, heat cycles, hibernation, spore release) to command for appropriate precautions. b) Cross-species reproductive coercion, biological imprinting without consent, or pheromonal influence intended to alter another’s reproductive state is strictly forbidden.
Dietary Protocols: a) Any and all foods must be registered upon boarding to ensure proper sanitary and safety measures. b) Foods producing cross-species allergens or neuroactive compounds must be stored in sealed compartments with filtered preparation zones. c) Species that consume foods which may be viewed as physically or culturally offensive by other species (such as live prey, raw protein, or energy-based sustenance) must use assigned consumption zones to prevent distress or contamination.
Additional rules may be put in place or altered by Command, as long as they do not violate Intergalatic Body's Rights Regulations. In the event of such violations, crew members are obligated to report such violations to the Council of Intergalatical Equality and Cultural Empowerment.
