WEEK 5 LECTURE - INDUSTRIALISATION OF PRINT
Ok so mathematically constructed geometry serifs are both perfect and a mess for someone like me! I’m such a perfectionist so I love the intricacy in each stroke in the composition in each letter, however, if I were to try this myself, I would be sitting there for hours on end.
Nonetheless, I tried to make a K with the mathematical grid structure of serifs. Despite it being a bit wonky and not proportioned properly, it was a fun little activity to do.
I also looked into other items that have a grid structure and its importance. For design and photography related compositions, it is evident that a grid structure is a tool for organising all of the elements to the piece, such as text, image, space as well as providing a hierarchy. This is in contrast to grids in cities, which allows for many liveable structural benefits, such as walkable street networks and remaining sustainable in doing the most with the least amount of land.
