i feel like its important for me to highlight their backstory here. reader and will are childhood friends, which is why will knows reader's mom and is very comfortable with her! but they had to move from boston to san jose (could be for her fathers work?)

eventually, reader and will would reunite! possibly just being in the same place at the same time. and i honestly think will is a spiritual person in a way. he probably thought meeting each other again was a red string of fate moment (he's SUCH a loser omg)

anyways, since you've been there through most of his life and now that you've reappeared he genuinely cannot imagine his days without you. he HATES change and attaches to people BAD. i fear he is just a creature of habit so best believe he is Not letting you go this time.

to explain the push and pull between you,,, it's sooo stupid but both of you gets so insecure with one another.

he's a famous hockey player, been to world tournaments, has brand deals, people generally know him and glaze the hell out of the guy.

on the other hand, you're a scholar, and a damn good (or at least a hardworking) one at that! it gets so hard for him when he's with you and you start talking about uni stuff, labs and data sheets and whatnot. and its Worse when, one time, both of you bump into a lab group mate (who is very attractive and a GUY) outside and it genuinely gets so embarrassing for him because both of you start throwing scientific jargon around and he's standing there in between you guys confused as hell.

on one summer day, will brought you back to boston just to spend some more time with you. the second both of you rush in through those white suburban doors you're immediately greeted with his family, face full of smiles and arms open wide. you’re bombarded with questions, a bunch of “how have you been”s and “what are you doing now”s.

but one thing sticks to both of you, an offhanded comment from his sister. "wow, you really can't leave each other alone, huh?"

can't... leave each other... alone....

it echoes through both your heads and while it was funny and lighthearted at the moment, it becomes all the more real and eye opening the moment you find yourselves alone, sitting in the trunk of will's ford bronco staring at the ocean.

it is true. you can't seem to leave each other alone. may it be in the best or worst times. even when you need space, and even when he needs his own time alone.

you're attached. stronger than the opposite poles of magnets or hydrogen with highly electronegative atoms.

it's all you've known. you just hope it's something worth fighting for.

notes: wait... this was genuinely supposed to be a small blurb/thoughts of situationship!will and somehow after writing my finals paper i opened this draft to finish it and it ended that way. can you tell where i started writing it again....
