Because Karen still has a lot of potential ahead of her as the female lead of the show, and multiple seasons of her filling Ben Urich's shoes ought to pay off (maybe even with some more crossovers into other shows?).

Agreed. I’d argue that, on a meta level, Karen still has value for the series. Not only is her backstory still a complete mystery, but her relationship with Frank was well-received on The Punisher, she’s a proxy for the public-at-large towards whatever Daredevil does/will do, and yes, I still believe that her and Matt have issues to sort out, conversations to be had and beds to muss. :D 

I’m not going to say which characters are expendable, but I personally believe there are one or two in the series that I think have gotten alot of focus and are nearing the end of their arc. Karen isn’t one of those characters to me. Neither is Foggy.

I kinda hope Daredevil Season 3 gives us a scene or two more of Matt's "world on fire". I'm actually kinda surprised we haven't had any "world on fire" moments since when he was describing his senses to Claire in DD 1x05. (And IIRC, weren't there other moments planned for the "world on fire" in season 1 that never came to frutition?)

    We actually disliked the entire “world on fire” concept/graphic, for reasons discussed here. (Though obviously, you’re welcome to disagree! Essentially, we feel it was a misleading way of depicting Matt’s sensory experience, particularly paired with the visual language Claire and Matt used in that scene, and the show’s refusal to acknowledge Matt’s radar sense. There are now people out there who– no joke– think Matt can see red! These are things that keep us up at night.) It was also inferior to the radar graphics used in both the 2003 movie and in Trial of the Incredible Hulk, which managed– via their color schemes and minimal details– to communicate the idea of spatial perception without appearing too visual. We can’t remember hearing about other discarded “world on fire” moments from Season 1 (though that may be on us– we do miss things), but we’re wondering if poor reception is the reason it hasn’t been used again, since we know we’re not the only people who disliked it. We would love to see some continued portrayal of Matt’s point-of-view in the show, since the uniqueness of his sensory world is such a fun aspect of the character. It’s also important to occasionally remind the audience of just how different his perception is. But we do think it needs to be redesigned. And for god’s sake, they need to mention his radar sense.

You might be the wrong person to ask this, but I was reading something the other day who said that non-canon ships tend to have more fics and material in their fandoms than the canon pairings. Would you say that there is any truth to this?

based on my experience in fandom, I would say this is true. I’ve always figured it was because pairings that became ‘official’ in canon and had focus on their relationship resulted in less need for fans to do their own wish fulfillment and/or experience ‘I guess I have to do this myself’ feelings.

that said, I only have anecdotal evidence this is true. it might be worth asking @toastystats, who runs interesting stat numbers for fandom based off AO3 (because AO3 is easy to run stats on, not because it’s representative of all fandom), if they’d enjoy tackling this question.

I don't know how season 3 of Daredevil DOESN'T feature Marci Stahl in a larger role than she's had in the first two seasons. (Speaking of which, how were Marci and Foggy affected by Jeri Hogarth's recent split from Chao and Benowitz?)

I don’t think we will have Marci in a larger role. I think she will feature about as much as she did in the last two seasons. She will be someone we see, someone who features in Foggy’s world… but in the end Daredevil is about Matt and Marci isn’t really a main player in Matt’s life… so, she won’t be a large figure in the show. Sad, because she’s great and I love her, but… yeah… I don’t think we will SEE her a lot more. We might hear a little more Moggy though. 

And, Jeri totally took Foggy with her to the new firm. She was talking about his office on the phone… and Marci would be great to see there as well. However I have a small thing for Foggy and Marci being on opposite sides of a courtroom. I can’t help it. I like when they go toe to toe.

Obviously, Karen getting threatened in DDS3 (especially if Fisk somehow links her to Wesley's death) is to be expected. But if someone's to die by Bullseye's hands, I'm more banking on them having a minor but still very beloved character to be the one to bite it. Like, say, Father Lantom. Because that's a death that would definitely hit Matt close to home (given how important Matt's religion is to him), but wouldn't disrupt the Matt-Karen-Foggy trio.

It's obviously way too far out to have a definitive answer (we may have to wait until closer to Luke Cage Season 2's release or even SDCC to find out), but do you think Daredevil Season 3 will come out before Iron Fist Season 2 or vice-versa?

I suppose we’re owed Daredevil first because season 2 is now 2 years old and I feel like we’ve done enough waiting, whereas we had a double dose of IF last year between its first season and Defenders. Obviously it’s just my speculation, but I hope that’s the case.

It's funny but of the four Defenders, Danny's the only one who didn't have a "plus two" when the heroes were moving their loved ones to the precinct. Matt has Karen and Foggy. Luke has Claire and Misty. Jessica has Malcolm and Trish. And Danny just has Colleen, since Ward's out of town (as is Joy, presumably).

    Well, technically Danny’s other person was Claire, but since she’s everyone’s civilian friend that didn’t really come through clearly. She would’ve been in that police station no matter what. He's also never had many non-superhero friends in the comics either, so that’s actually a nice bit of character consistency (whether or not it was intentional). And while this further emphasizes the persisting Misty-shaped hole in Danny’s life, even if they were already friends/dating/etc. he still would have been sharing her with Luke, so that wouldn’t have changed anything. (In conclusion: Danny needs more friends. That’s our big take-away from this.) 

    But you know who should have been there as Danny’s second person? Jeryn! Where was Jeryn?! Imagine how much fun it would have been to have her there.

IIRC, didn't Fisk's lawyer from the show, Ben Donovan, have a daughter named Milla in the comics?

    No, Milla Donovan and Ben Donovan are not related-- though Ben does have a son: Ben Donovan, Jr. However, Ed Brubaker brought Ben into his Daredevil run directly after Milla was hospitalized specifically because of the shared last name, and thus Matt’s pain over Milla bleeds into his behavior toward Ben. It’s an easy mistake to make.
