If George and Hazel were a thing, how do you think May and/or Rose would react?

Rose would be over the moon, she thinks he's such a gentleman, and she's so excited by Hazel having a boyfriend. When she's back from Deepdean, she goes and lies on Hazel's bed as Hazel's getting ready to go out with George, and is always writing back to her asking how the dates went. Rose is truly a romantic <3

May SAYS she doesn't like him. And honestly largely doesn't as she in a phase of hating boys ("Eric's not a- Well, he doesn't count!") not to mention the fact he's dating her sister, how dare he, he didn't even ask permission... But she admits he has rare glimmers of coolness which redeems him. He managed to win May over by telling her she can see a picture of a dead body as long as she doesn't tell Hazel

Also bonus: Teddy would also be over the moon as he LOVES George!!! Whether as a toddler, when George would hold him and chuck him in the air and count all the red buses and taxis with him through the window, or as an excitable 4 year old (I think that's how old Teddy is in TBITB???) where George will introduce him to Sherlock Holmes and teach him about codes and ciphers. He's always asking George if he can be the best man

i’ve been enjoying your head-canon posts a lot, especially on Hazel/George because it really would work. if there was an alternate universe where they were a thing, what do you think would happen in death sets sail or regarding spain or, like, generally later in time?

In regards to Hazel/George (me and @detectivesocietyfan are currently championing georzel as a ship name) I think everything was relatively the same up till Death In The Spotlight. Detective society would still meet Alex on the train, and Hazel still writes the letters, and still has a crush on him and Daisy still gets jealous during JFP. I think George begins his crush on her during MAM but Death In The Spotlight is where I think Hazel begins to reciprocate.

As for Death Sets Sail, I'll have to be perfectly honest it's my least favourite and thus my least read 😅 I think I can remember enough but please excuse anything that's wrong!

Obviously George wouldn't say he wanted to marry Lavinia (and also to me that seemed TOTALLY ooc for him anyway but I digress). I don't know how much I'd change tbh as what Hazel needed more than anything atp in the book is friends so I'd imagine she'd be being very close to both Alex and George. That moment when George says to Hazel "see here, has he not said anything? I thought Alex would" canonically in DSS I would swap around and have Alex say to Hazel about George, although in Alex's case it was nervousness, I'd have it inferred that George was trying to be mindful and respectful of Hazel's grief instead.

I think during that moment where he calls her Madame President I'd have him take her hand and cup Hazel's face and it would be a more poignant moment. I don't know if I would have them kiss and actually get together as a couple as like I said what Hazel needed then is friends more than anything. But on the other hand it would be fucking hilarious for Daisy to come back and find out Hazel and George were dating. I'd imagine there'd lots of jokes about the people Daisy loves both in the world are both dating Mukherjees.

As for Spain, we don't really know much about it at all so I'm not sure how much to comment on it except to say it seemed ooc for Alex to not have known about George going or not told Hazel (as inferred in The Case Of The Second Scream). In my version of canon, Lavinia runs away to the Spanish Civil War, yes partly because of political beliefs, but also because she was trying to run away from a girl she was in love with. She never gets together with George and I'm unsure if that was a factor in him going with her or not, and so if he was together with Hazel I truly don't know how it would play out, to be perfectly honest.

As for in the future, I think they'd be 100% together in TMUA and TBITB and also as Robin Stevens says something is going to happen in Halexander's relationship in the next ministry book, I took inspiration from this and headcannon George and Hazel having a baby together and that she was unknowingly in her first trimester during The Body In The Blitz. I think George has always wanted to be a father, but Hazel is a little more unsure because of everything that happened in ASOM but they muddle through together <3
