🌸 [Elissa | Genshin Oc] 🌸
• Full name: Elissa Äverl
• Orientation: Heterosexual, Heteroromantic
• Affiliation: Favonius Library - Church of Favonius Orphanage (formerly)
• Love Interest: Michel Zöllner
• VA(s): Jill Harris (ENG)
She has an older sister called Bella.
The sisters parents died in an accident when Bella was 9 and Elissa was 5, they were then taken to an orphanage at the Favonius church.
Still at that time, little Elissa, who couldn't understand why her parents weren't coming back, ended up running away from the orphanage in the morning while the nuns were distracted. She ended up getting lost and was found by a bard who calmed the crying child with one of his songs and then took her back to the orphanage.
Elissa doesn't remember the man's face, but the song has stuck in her head to nowadays even if she doesn't remember the lyrics correctly, and she has a habit of humming it when she's alone and lost in thought (yes, the bard was Venti. But she doesn't remember his face, and be probably don't remember about that either).
Elissa and Bella grew up in a orphanage hosted by the Favonius Church, Elissa was a very shy child so the only one who made her company was Bella, but she managed to befriend another orphan, a girl called Elise.
As soon as Bella was old enough, she left the orphanage to go work as a knight for the Knights of Favonius, and took Elissa with her to live together. Elissa also started to work at a young age since she didn't want to be a burden to her sister (even though Bella doesn't mind babying her sis).
Anyway, they currently live in separate houses but see each other often, Elissa's house is in a more secluded spot since she likes the solitude.
Elissa started to work in the Favonius library to assist Lisa, which means she sees Bella at work from time to time.
The first time Elissa "met" Venti was when she went to pick up a drunk Bella at a tavern, and although they are not exactly "friends", Elissa gets along with Venti minimally well and they talk from time to time.
She is romantically interested in a knight, that she met through Bella, called Michel, but she keeps some respectful distance from him. She never had a relationship before so she's confused about her feelings, and also believes someone like him wouldn't be interested in her.
Elissa is a serious and reserved person who is not a big fan of socializing, the complete opposite of her sister.
She maintains a calm and composed demeanor despite not hiding when she is angry or when she disagrees with something.
She's quite the bookworm, having more than one shelf stuffed with books at home.
She works hard to get what she wants or needs so as not to depend on someone else (even though Bella would give her the world if Elissa asked).
She takes her responsibilities very seriously and prefers to finish her tasks at once rather than procrastinate.
She is quite polite and has elegant manners despite not coming from a rich lineage.
She has a generous heart and is always willing to help those who seek assistance from her.
She is suspicious and difficult to deceive, never letting anyone take advantage of her kindness.
Not as observant as most people would pledge her to be. Can be oblivious to some things, unlikely to notice someone's flirting with her or is interested in her (romantically speaking) unless it's very on-the-nose.
Unlike Bella, who is a drunkard, Elissa absolutely never drinks alcohol, both to avoid following her sister's bad habit and because she doesn't like the tastes of alcoholic beverages.
Most people believes she's humble, and that's why she often downplays. What most people, herself included, is that her humility sometimes comes from unconscious lack of self-worth.
Her dearest constant. Bella has always been at her side, from the orphanage days to adulthood. Elissa admires her sister's energy and warmth, even if she doesn't always understand how carefree she seems. At times, Elissa worries about Bella's drinking and the weight she hides behind her jokes, but she never presses, she simply stays nearby, hoping her presence is comfort enough.
Elise Marx (childhood friend)
A gentle presence since their orphanage days. Elissa respects Elise's devotion to Barbatos, though she sometimes feels their paths in life have drifted apart. Still, when they speak, there is a deep and quiet understanding, both know what it means to carry responsibility early in life. Elise's calmness soothes her, and Elissa is grateful to still have her in her circle after all these years. They keep in touch through letters and occasional visits.
Michel Zöllner (first love)
She sees him as reliable, composed, and kind, a knight who carries himself with dignity. Elissa enjoys their conversations, though she's careful to keep her distance out of respect. Her feelings for him confuse her: admiration, fondness, and something softer she struggles to name. Unsure if it's mutual, she'd rather remain quiet than risk disrupting the balance between them.
Katrin Zöllner (acquaintance)
Katrin is nearly Bella's opposite, which means Elissa sometimes feels overwhelmed by her confidence. Still, Katrin has always treated her kindly, and Elissa appreciates the knight's sincerity. Though they don't meet often, she finds Katrin's presence oddly reassuring, like a spark that fills the silence Bella leaves behind.
Nelio Wächter (closest friend)
Her anchor in the library. Nelio is steady, diligent, and endlessly dependable, the kind of friend who listens without judgment and seems to understand her silences better than most. Elissa treasures their companionship deeply; she knows he would never betray her trust. With Nelio, she feels no need to hide or explain herself, which is a rare and precious comfort.
A role model and a challenge all in one. Elissa respects Lisa's knowledge and elegance, and she strives to match her standards in the library. At the same time, Lisa's teasing nature leaves her flustered more often than she'd like to admit. Still, Elissa knows she owes much of her own growth to Lisa's patient (and sometimes mischievous) guidance.
Lyne Grünkern ("coworker")
One of the few people Elissa can spend hours beside without feeling pressured to speak. Lyne's presence is quiet in a way she finds comforting, though her strange fascination with anomalies and spirits occasionally leaves Elissa unsure whether to be concerned or amused. She admires Lyne's sharp mind and dedication to the library, even if the habit of writing notes in book margins makes her inwardly cringe. Their conversations are often sparse, but never uncomfortable, and Elissa has come to value the calm understanding that exists between them.
Isabell Eberhart (Lisa's apprentice)
At first glance, Isabell seemed almost too sweet and absentminded to be taken seriously. Elissa quickly learned otherwise. Beneath the cheerful smiles and harmless teasing lies someone remarkably observant, and at times Elissa suspects Isabell notices far more than she lets on. Though her playful nature can occasionally leave Elissa flustered, she genuinely enjoys working alongside her and admires her patience, especially with Razor. Watching Isabell teach others so naturally reminds Elissa that kindness and intelligence are not opposites.
Razor Graupelz (acquaintance)
Their interactions are infrequent, but Elissa has grown strangely fond of him over time. Razor's honesty is refreshing; there is no hidden meaning behind his words or actions, only sincerity. Teaching him to read can be difficult, especially when his attention drifts toward the stories themselves rather than the lessons, yet Elissa does not mind nearly as much as she pretends to. Though conversation between them is often simple and fragmented, she finds his quiet curiosity endearing in its own way.
Lia Kölner (trusted acquaintance, Bella's friend)
A woman Elissa respects deeply. Lia's reserved nature initially made her seem intimidating, but Elissa soon realized there is quiet gentleness beneath her stern demeanor. She appreciates Lia's honesty and the calm reliability she carries into every situation. Though Lia rarely speaks openly about herself, Elissa senses the exhaustion hidden beneath her composure and admires the strength it must take to continue carrying so much without complaint. She considers Lia trustworthy, the sort of person whose care reveals itself through actions rather than words.
Evelyn Dannerl (Bella's friend)
Elissa has always found Evelyn easy to admire, not because of her noble upbringing, but because she never allows it to place distance between herself and others. Her warmth feels genuine, never performative, and conversations with her often leave Elissa unexpectedly at ease. There is a softness to Evelyn that reminds her of sunlight through stained glass: delicate, quiet, and comforting. Elissa sometimes wonders how someone raised under so many expectations managed to remain so gentle.
Levi Lohmann (Bella's friend)
Levi is far more considerate than the rumors surrounding him would suggest. His confidence and flirtatious nature can be overwhelming at times, but Elissa has never once felt disrespected in his presence, something she quietly appreciates. Though she does not entirely understand him, she recognizes the sincerity hidden beneath his teasing and charm, especially in the way he cares for the people close to him. Anyone willing to stand so fiercely beside Bella and her friends cannot be as shallow as Mondstadt gossip paints him to be.
Joel Luftner (acquaintance)
Elissa has never quite decided whether Joel is genuinely troublesome or simply enjoys appearing that way. Most of their interactions happen through Elise or the Cathedral, and she has long since noticed that his visits are far too frequent to be entirely accidental. His humor can be exhausting, especially when he uses it to avoid answering simple questions, but she finds it difficult to dislike him. Because beneath the theatrics and poor decisions, is someone surprisingly attentive to the people around him. She worries about his drinking more than she says aloud, though she suspects any attempt to lecture him would be met with another joke. Still, she respects the fact that he has never treated Elise's faith with anything less than sincerity disguised as teasing.
Sophia Edelhauch (friend)
Sophia possesses a quiet reliability that she finds deeply comforting, and their conversations never feel forced. Whether carrying books together, or simply discussing daily responsibilities. Sophia's company is effortless in a way few others manage. Elissa admires her dedication to helping others and the humility with which she carries herself. Though Sophia often dismisses praise, Elissa cannot help but view her as the sort of knight Mondstadt should be proud of.
Idalia Graufell (trusted friend)
One of the people Elissa respects most. Idalia can be intimidating at times, but never in a way that feels dismissive. She appreciates the annotations Idalia occasionally leaves in borrowed texts, even when they challenge her interpretations. There is something reassuring about her calm confidence, a sense that she has already considered every angle before speaking. There are moments when Idalia's guidance feels similar to an older sister's warmth.
Caius Nachtruf (acquaintance)
A man who somehow manages to be both helpful and irritating at the same time. Elissa often leaves conversations with Caius feeling as though she has been subtly insulted, only to realize later that he had been trying to help all along. His cynicism clashes with her more straightforward outlook, yet she has come to trust his judgment more than she expected. On several occasions, rare books have appeared at her doorstep under the guise of anonymous donations. Caius has never claimed responsibility, and Elissa has never confronted him about it. For all his complaints about other people, she finds it difficult to believe he is as indifferent as he pretends to be.
Venti Windfeld (acquaintance)
Elissa mostly associates him with the exhausting task of retrieving Bella from taverns, yet she cannot deny that his music has a strange effect on her. Sometimes, when he plays, she feels an odd familiarity she cannot fully explain, like remembering the feeling of a dream long after forgetting its details. Though she would never openly admit it, she genuinely enjoys listening to his songs.
Diluc Ragnvindr (acquaintance)
Most of their interactions consist of Elissa apologizing for Bella's behavior while escorting her home from Angel's Share. Diluc always receives those apologies with the same calm composure, which only leaves Elissa more embarrassed on her sister's behalf. Though they are not particularly close, she respects his professionalism and the quiet patience he extends even toward troublesome customers. There is something distant about him, but not unkind, and Elissa finds him easier to speak to than she initially expected.
Elissa has always admired Barbara's ability to offer kindness so freely, even when carrying responsibilities that would exhaust most people. Though their duties often keep them occupied, she enjoys the moments they spend together and finds Barbara remarkably easy to talk to. At times, Elissa worries that Barbara asks too much of herself and receives too little in return. Still, she knows better than most that Barbara's compassion comes from genuine conviction, and that is something she deeply respects.
Someone Elissa never expected to grow so comfortable around. Their reputation alone is impressive, but what she values most is their willingness to help others without expecting anything in return. Conversations with them rarely feel awkward, even when silence settles between them, and she finds their presence surprisingly easy to enjoy. Though she sometimes worries they carry far more responsibility than any one person should, the Traveler never seems to let it harden their kindness. Elissa trusts them deeply, and while she would never say so aloud, she looks forward to their visits more than she cares to admit.
Rosaria Eisblüte (acquaintance)
Most of Elissa's interactions with Rosaria happen through the Church or through Bella, and she has long since accepted that Rosaria appears and disappears according to rules known only to herself. They are not particularly close, but Elissa has grown accustomed to her presence over the years. Seeing Rosaria and Bella somehow get along remains one of Mondstadt's smaller mysteries in her eyes, though she has stopped trying to understand it.
Kaeya Alberich (acquaintance)
Someone who entered her life almost entirely through Lia. Most of their interactions are brief, often taking place before or after he comes looking for Lia and Elissa happens to be around. Though Elissa occasionally suspects he enjoys seeing how long she can maintain a serious expression, she has never truly minded his company. Anyone trusted by Lia is someone Elissa is willing to give the benefit of the doubt. She does not know him especially well, nor does she feel the need to. For now, it is enough to know that Lia smiles a little more whenever he is around.
Elissa has white long and straight hair, falling well past her shoulders to about mid-back. She has long side bangs that frame her face delicately. One side is slightly fuller, sweeping diagonally across her forehead and blending seamlessly into the rest of her hair. The front strands are tapered and a bit shorter than the back. There's also a subtle interconnected braid along the sides of her head. She has light blue eyes and pale skin. She is 162 tall.
She only wears long dresses, mostly in blue colors.
Her main fit: The upper is a soft, ivory-cream blouse with a modest, high neckline and a small navy bow tie at the throat. Skilfully integrated into the blouse is a cinched, under-bust corset in deep indigo, richly embroidered in metallic bronze filigree that sweeps up from the waist to frame her torso. Four tiny, brass-coloured buttons run down the front of the blouse, echoing the corset’s detailing. Gently puffed at the shoulders, the sleeves taper into snug, semi-transparent cuffs at the wrist, each cuff edged with the same bronze embroidery found on the corset. The skirt is double layered: the main layer is a muted teal that flows smoothly down the front, cut shorter at the hem to reveal dark stockings and tall black lace-up boots. Over this, a black overskirt cascades longer in the back, creating a graceful high-low effect. The inner lining of the black layer carries matching bronze-gold embroidery along the hem, tying it back to the corset's detailing. She pairs the dress with fitted black tights and pointed, mid-calf dark brown boots laced tightly up the front with leaf-like bronze motifs climbing the shaft.
In the first one she wears a dress that was styled like the ones she wore as a teen (around her 14-16's): A crisp, navy high collar frames her throat, dipping into a soft white “bib” panel at the chest. Centered on that white panel sits a gently oversized powder-blue bow, its tails draping down over a form-fitting indigo corset that cinches right beneath the bust. Three-quarter length sleeves, ending just past the elbow, with the cuffs rolled back to reveal the same pale blue lining as her bow. A single, full circle skirt cut short to mid-thigh, allowing plenty of bounce and twirl. Woven into the deep navy fabric is a subtle swirling waves pattern while an elegant gold filigree trim hugs the hem, adding a touch of sophistication. She wears semi-opaque black tights that lend a bit of warmth and continuity from skirt to shoe. On her feet are ankle-height boots in matching navy, each accented with a tiny gold buckle and toe cap. She wears her hair mostly as is, with only a small difference in style: a subtle braid running along the sides to the top of her head.
The second one is a dress she wears for an Windblume Festival (though she will only wear it if the traveler invites her to go to the festival with them, or else she will simply go home and not partake in the festivities): High Stand Collar in deep dark teal velveteen, edged with gilt braid, rises like the prow of a ship catching wind. Petal-shaped Capelet drapes over her shoulders in matching dark teal, its triangular points trimmed in gold and tipped with tiny teal droplet charms that catch the light. At her throat, a ruffled teal jabot spills down in soft waves, secured by a tiny gilt clasp shaped like a blossoms. The torso front is a jewel-box of interlocking gold filigree clasps running down the dark teal under-bust panel, contrasting against the crisp white side-insets that nip elegantly in at her waist. Elbow-length white sleeves puff gently before tapering into teal-lace-trimmed cuffs. The voluminous underskirt is pure white. Layered atop are three dramatic velvet "petals" in dark teal and pale teal colors, each edged in gold braid and inset with fan-shaped panels. The two side overlays are medium-length and parted at the sides to reveal the underskirt beneath. A large central "petal" at the front is a bit longer and dips to a point, embroidered with a cluster of thin windwheel-like symbols in gold thread. On her back, a sizable teal bow ties the ensemble together (literally), its medium-length tails trailing like banners. Scattered discreetly amongst the gold trim are tiny teardrop beads, when she moves they sparkle in the sunlight. She wears white patterned tights that reach below the knees. The fabric features subtle floral designs woven throughout, creating a raised, slightly translucent pattern against the white material. Her shoes are pointed-toe heels in dark teal and ivory. The toe caps are dark teal and decorated with small white floral (cecilias) embroidery. The main body of the shoes is ivory with fine gold edging along the seams. A small teal bow is attached to the front of each shoe, the heels are narrow and moderately tall. The upper sections of her hair are gathered back from both sides of her head and woven into two neat, simple braids. These braids wrap toward the back and meet at the center, creating a delicate crown-like effect across the rear of her head. The rest of her hair is left loose, falling freely down past her shoulders. From where the braids meet, her hair is decorated with a large ribbon arrangement secured at the back of her head. The accessory combines multiple loops of satin ribbon in pale mint and light teal tones with a silver floral ornament at the center, with numerous long ribbon tails cascade down her neck. Beneath the tails hangs a piece of sheer lace fabric embroidered with floral patterns, draping to the back of her neck like a mini veil.
She wears her Vision in a pendant-chain, making it look like a necklace, so it remains protected and she never loses it.
• Elissa’s constellation takes the form of an open book floating against the sky. (I didn't gave it a name yet).
• Feels guilty that she can't remember her parents faces and her interactions with them. But hides that from Bella.
• Loves rainy days, she says it's because the sound of rain soothes her mind like a old lullaby.
• Is a excellent singer. Or so Bella says, Elissa doesn’t really believe it. She never let anyone hear her sing, so she thinks Bella's opinion is biased.
• Was "forced" to join choir as a child, so her range is practiced. In contrast, Bella just refused to partake.
• Her home is located in a quiet corner of Mondstadt City. It's not overly big, but it has two floors. Her bedroom is in the second floor. It has a fireplace in the living room. It's a cozy environment, furniture with earthy tones, neatly organized, but with a vibe that says "safe resting place."
• She goes to work and home on feet everyday instead of using gliders. So she developed a minimally good stamina.
• She likes to write as a hobby. She has no desire to become a writer, she just likes the mental exercise of writing a story.
Maybe I'll make her find out it was Venti who led her back to the orphanage, or I'll make Venti overhearing her humming his song and recognizing it. Not sure yet.
Elissa was my very first Genshin Oc ever, way back in 2021-2022 (when I started to engage in the game for the first time). But I've been developing her over the years, fully "finishing her up" in 2024.
She was firstly meant to be a ocxcanon with Venti ☠️
She'd be a 20-years-old librarian who owned her library, and her Vision originally was Anemo (because that's my favorite element lol). They'd met when Venti was searching for a book to help the Traveler, and the rest is story.
Back then she didn't even had a backstory or her sister, but her personality didn't change much.
I scrapped that idea mostly because I don't think they'd work as a couple.
So I developed her more further, gave her another love interest (this time with another oc), changed her Vision cuz Anemo doesn't work for her (and gave Anemo to Bella instead), but kept her connected to Venti to keep a small root of her first concept lol.
I don't have anything against ocxcc, I still do it tbh, I just like when the pair actually makes sense and would work long-term.
And that was it. No, I don't have any drawings of her. I can't draw, and I don't have the luxury to afford commissioning someone to draw her, unfortunately. So all my ocs are just on paper (or on text, in this case).
This is my first tumblr post so I'm still learning how to use this thing. I have several ocs and just thinking I'll have to write them down in this template already gets me all lazy 😅 but I'll post them anyways. I don't really mind if no one read it or interacts with my posts, I just want to share my ocs here, kinda like an archive.
Btw, Lyne is labeled "coworker" because she was never officially hired. She kind of just inserted herself into the role over the years of constant visits and the library staff went just: 😑🤔🤷🏻♀️
Also, Razor's, Rosaria's, and Venti's surnames are my hcs.
Ocs related to Elissa: Bella, Michel, Katrin, Elise, Nelio, Lyne, Isabell, Lia, Evelyn, Levi, Joel, Sophia, Idalia, Caius.
