Omigod! New Geppy-X remaster announced! Maybe this means I'll finally play the game instead of just listening to the music!
Literally never heard of this game before this trailer went out but this was apparently a fairly standard horizontal shooter for the PlayStation that came on 4 discs (a feat typically only matched by likes of the later Final Fantasy games) because they had so many anime cutscenes. Which have now been re-scanned in HD because they somehow actually kept them around.
Incredible.
70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X adds remastered vs. original toggle - Gematsu
70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X will include a feature to switch between the game’s newly remastered and original 1999 visuals, publisher Bliss Brain and developer Implicit Conversion announced.
Here are the details:
One of the new features we are most proud to include is the addition of a high-definition remastered version of the animations, digitized directly from the Betacam tapes delivered by the animation studio.
Following the announcement, we received requests from fans who shared that they would love to see the original version of the animations as well. We agree that this is important, especially in the name of preservation, so we have decided to include a feature that allows players to switch between the remastered and original movie versions. This feature will be included in the base game and will not be released as downloadable content. We invite you to experience the unique atmosphere of the original production, which packed 8,000 hand-drawn animation cels onto four CD-ROMs. Please note that some scenes in the original version were modified by the development team from the Betacam animation, and therefore may differ slightly from the remastered version, which remains faithful to the original Betacam source. We hope you will discover and enjoy the details and creative touches the development team carefully crafted.
70s-style Robot Anime Geppy-X is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on July 16.

Here's a game I never thought would get a re-release, much less a worldwide one.
Geppy-X, which allegedly started life as a Getter Robo game before the license was lost, is a 2D shooter based on a 70s anime that never existed. It has a lot of big Japanese talent in the voicework and music, and is jammed full of fully animated cutscenes, all with the distinct goal of replicating the feel of a 70s combining robot anime that is Getter Robo in all but name.
The new version comes with all the quality of life enhancements one would expect and bonus modes.
