first win hug [miami gp 2024] -> first world championship hug [abu dhabi gp 2025]
January 28th, 2025.
Having small reasons to celebrate and treat myself is my favorite thing in the world. Especially when it's health related.
To whom it might concern: Go get your reproductive system checked asap. Get a pap smear. Get your ovaries checked. Everything else. Pay attention to what you feel. Listen to your body.
Song of the day: I'm free by The Who.
Okay, I want to take the time to talk about boobs, and hear me out.
It's important.
I haven't been around much lately, I'm okay. I've been busy taking care of my mother in law with dementia. But, my sister recently found out she has breast cancer.
She had her first mammogram at 41, and unfortunately, we found out yesterday, it has spread. We are still hopeful it's treatable, but y'all. If you are 40, or about to be, or know someone who is, do not put off getting a mammogram.
Get one asap.
Procrastination is not in your favor with this.
If you have a family history of cancer, talk to your doctor and get a mammogram and genetic testing sooner than 40. I'm 38, just had a mammogram and found out I also need to have an mri every six months as well because my boobs are dense and apparently that increases risk.
You can even get them younger.
Sooner is better.
Don't ignore symptoms. My Mom put off seeing a Dr for pain in her side and passed away from bile duct cancer. I cannot emphasize enough to listen to your body, and go see your physician.
I knew someone who's cough turned out to be lung cancer, someone else's painful urination was bladder cancer.
Check that prostate and colon too, all the bits, whatever bits you've got, get them checked. Please.
If you've been putting something off, this is your sign to make the appointment and get it done.
If you've never been checked, it's not too late. If you think you're too young, you are not.
So please, talk with your friends, family, relationships, situationships, frenemies, neighbors, whatever people you have, help keep them safe.
Late night update
Okay, serious note.
I know I've been making jokes like this a lot lately, and it's only partially bragging.
Some of you who have been following me a while may know that last year, my father was diagnosed with severe cirrhosis caused by fatty liver disease. He's still waiting on his liver donation.
Despite a life of athletics, a great cook for a wife, and a fair amount of fitness training, I've always been on the heavy side (defensive lineman, rugby player, and weightlifter). A lot of recent gain has had to do with life since Covid and my own spinal injury 2.5 years ago.
So, I got checked out myself as these things can be hereditary. My test results showed the first signs of fatty liver disease.
My doctor put me into treatment immediately, and in the last 6 months, I've lost over 40 lbs and have been getting back to my normal fitness level. I feel good, and my wife and I are enjoying the benefits frequently.
So, yes, I'm expressing my glee in a spike in the good stuff. Hence, all the goofy gifs.
But, my friends, i want to encourage you to please take good care of yourselves. Even if you struggle financially with medical care, please use what means you have to monitor your intake, eat more good than bad, and take walks daily.
I want you to live long, sexy lives.
Love you all.

I can’t process this. How can people hear someone died and then just go on with their day? 2020 is too much. I need time. RIP Chadwick Boseman. Get yourselves checked. He was way younger than anyone recommends you start getting checked for colon cancer.
