Snowy Day Studying Essentials
I originally titled this, “Rainy Day Studying,” but the weather in New York quickly flipped to snowflakes instead of rain drops. Below, I have listed some of my favorite essentials to have with me during this chillier time of year. I hope you enjoy, and that you’re inspired to get cozy and start grinding.
Cozy outfit. This could be an over-sized sweater and leggings, or jeans and a cute cardigan. Whatever makes you feel cozy, but also allows you to be productive.
Candles and blankets and slippers. Oh my. Three quite obvious essentials, seen probably on every studyblr during this season. Just a friendly suggestion to light a candle with a delightful smell, wrap up in that especially soft blanket, and slip into those oh-so fluffy slippers.
Hot Beverage. I will always choose coffee first. However, in the fall, I’m most apt to drink tea. And when winter comes, hot chocolate is my favorite. Whatever hot beverage warms your soul and helps you work hard is best.
Window. This may be a strange one. But I absolutely love studying near a window in the winter because the scenery is breathtaking. It may be chillier by a window, but that’s why you have the previous 3 essentials.
Fireplace. You don’t need to have a fireplace in your home or on campus to study near. Many cute cafes have them, and I know Tim Horton’s has them. A wonderfully warm and cozy location to strive for greatness next to.
Anything That is a Reminder of Hogwarts. Oddly motivating is pretending you’re studying for your O.W.L.s, and are blessed with studying much cooler subjects like Potions, Transfiguration, and Charms. Obviously, I am a Harry Potter fan, so if you find yourself leaning towards another fandom with a cozy setting, then absolutely do that instead.
An Inspirational Figure or Vision Board. I know that vision boards are very popular, and incredibly useful. My vision boards that I’ve had in past, do have dreams of mine, but they also consist of my role models- even fictional ones. These include Hermione Granger, Elle Woods, Michaela Pratt, and Leslie Knope.
A Comfortable Place to Work. Find whatever place you will be most productive, but also have the coziness and comfort to warm your soul. I tend to work at my normal desk and chair, but I will absolutely switch it up to my bed or a trunk-seat by my window.
Attitude & Mindset to Begin. After you get all cozy, just start. Don’t spend all of your time trying to make the perfect and most comfortable study spot if it is a means of procrastination. Get into your cozy clothes, make your beverage, and light those candles. Then get to work. Time waits for no man (or woman).
I hope you found these essentials beneficial and inspiring. Continue to work hard and strive for greatness, and use these colder days as motivation to work while others are relaxing. You were all born to be great, and you each have immense potential. Now, it’s time to see what that potential truly is.
