this is why it’s hard for me to trust people
Even a trash bin is emptied in a while, but I realised later that I was used like an dumping ground"

Lord of the Rings
Lord of the rings was a cartoon in the 70’s. Violet told me I was going the to movies with this guy named Jeff. There weren’t any no, buts, or I can’t, about it, I was going. The movies. Lord of the Rings, I couldn’t wait, I wanted to see it. In door theater might be different, I thought. Jeff was cute, short brown hair and my favorite, brown eyes. When we got there he wanted to sit in the back,…

My boss really doesn’t make my opinion about christians any better (he is christian and his company has only christian customers. I didn’t care at first.).
He is this nice guy, cringy dad-type, who never says something bad or criticizes you or your work. (which is not good btw. because how can you know when something is wrong?) But then, when it pleases his interests, he plays the guilt trip card to pressure you into staying overtime when HE fucked up his planning.
My internship ends in three days (can’t wait!). My replacements aka new interns are already there. Which means I have barely anything to do. Also he isn’t even available most part of the day.
So today, it’s almost time to go home. And he comes 30 Minutes before that (he does that often!) because he remembered this one video project where the audio needs to get exchanged. So he asks us three interns if we know how the software works. We all admit that we don’t really know what to do since it’s not really our field. We still had to figure it out. 1. the mac we have is horribly slow and the software doesn’t work right and 2. boss also doesn’t know how to change the audio.
We three together figured it out eventually right on the clock for going home. But nope, it desperately had to get rendered till tomorrow (actually there is no pressure but if boss want’s it now, it needs to be done for some reason. Just to lay on the server the next days).
So he suddenly comes and says “You know, you were a few minutes late today, can’t you stay and observe the rendering process?” Like nobody gave a shit when I was 5 minutes late the last months. Because he himself isn’t always there (which is actually the reason why I come later in the first place. No fun in waiting in front of a closed door at freezing temperatures.) BUT today it’s suddenly relevant just to render this stupid trailer that couldn’t have waited till tomorrow.
But the best part is: The program crashed after 15 minutes of rendering and we had to restart it. After it was finished another 20 minutes later we found out that the audio wasn’t even activated in the options!! Again, we interns don’t know much about this software. We couldn’t have known. But obvioulsy the boss had some struggles as well to find the options to activate it. (the truth is he doesn’t know anything about the stuff he gives us to do). And then it had to get rendered AGAIN!!! But “kindly” he let us go then. After we wasted like almost an hour staring at a loading screen of a renderprocess!!
I usually don’t have problems with doing overtime when it is needed. BUT this wasn’t nessecary! It doesn’t make any sense. It was just because he had a sudden brainspark at the end of the day while he spend the whole day in his garden ignoring his interns inside!
And yeah, he always uses the guilt strategy. Like “But if you can’t stay longer to ad this extra animation (which takes another 1-2h) we can’t show the finished version to our customers tomorrow. That would be sad...” or “You can go a bit earlier today (10 minutes), I am sure you would stay longer some day as exchange.”
He uses us as he pleases and doesn’t realize that we have lifes beside working for him 8h/day.
The amount of university and college friends you get is based on how often you can drive people places because they don’t have cars...
