Bird no. 265. The walk. . I listened to a podcast a while ago (maybe Hidden Brain?) and it said something that stuck with me: There was a study that showed that you get a smaller dose of the same happy brain juice from *saying* you did something, as you get from actually accomplishing it! . At the start of the month I told myself (and a few others) that I was going to do my physio exercises three times a day for the whole month. For every new person I told, it took a little more power away from my resolution. Instead of keeping me accountable like I thought, I felt satisfaction from just setting the goal... so I didn't need to stick with it! Shoot. #selfsabotage . I did do them a bunch, and that dug me out of a deep dark hole. Now I'm sitting on the edge and swinging my feet in. I feel much better right now, but I know it won't last if I don't do the work. . Have you ever done that to yourself? How did you turn it around? . #walkthewalk #getwalking #shh #donttellanyone #secretlyworkingtowardsabetterlife (at Montreal, Quebec)
