This past weekend I was invited to the grand-opening of a Loveland bar called Cappy’s. At first glance, the place was super dope! A covered courtyard, barbecue, beer and wine, FREE massages and haircuts. I represented my newest business, Cincinnati Cigar Company. Due to the horrific storm about 20 people made it out. But, my goal wasn’t to sell, it was all about brand recognition and putting a face with a name! Needless to say, most people didn’t smoke or get haircuts. The host of the event after about an hour and a half comes up to me and says, “Hey buddy, you should get in line and get a haircut. The girls need people...” I’m pretty sure he had no idea of the rules in business and/or the minor offense he had just committed. 1) if we are all here for business, why would I patronize another vendor that clearly has no desire of patronizing my business? They aren’t even trying to do a photo opp with me so I’m not going to be the token minority photo opp in their ad. 2) I’m manning a table solo with valuable international products next to a walk path. I don’t know anybody here and I could possibly be leaving my products open to theft. 3) I have a haircut. I cut it yesterday. Black men have sensitive skin and shouldn’t use razors. She’s using a razor. I don’t want a razor shave. Besides I have a haircut! And black people don’t cheat on their barbers or stylist for no-THING. We trust who we trust and will not ever comprise that. So at the end of the event he ask me for a business card. I obliged. He gave me his info on the back of one of the cards I gave him. Tacky. Don’t use my info to replace with your info. #getyourgameup Last but not least, the owner of Cappy’s was not at his own event. Why wouldn’t you be? That’s like not coming to your own birthday at your house? #knowmoredobetter #knowyourworth #respectmyNO #handmadecigars
