Tyzonn Rewrite AU Backstory🩶💎🩶
Mercuria, a planet said to live in a network of stars far from the Milky Way. It’s home or…well was home to the Mercurians. A nearly human like race with their genetic makeup on a tiny scale resembles that of mercury, they can freely turn into the substance and even release it in many forms.
By a strange phenomenon the mercurians are capable of absorbing various forms of energy and recreating it into positive aspects. This is because of their mercury based physiology and manipulation of Flow and while this seems to be very beneficial and respective amongst the scientific laws of the universe they’ve secluded their society away from most in a common belief of their culture, “We give as much as we are owed, but fret away from what is granted”, basically they develop and give back to the universe but in the pursuit of prying eyes they must not share these gifts.
The mercurians also had a interesting set of beliefs, they believe in the idea of a soul or force within every being that drives them throughout existence. The sages taught about said theories in their religious planetariums with Tyzonn and his father Rugya being closely connected to their faith, they lived a rather quiet but close life trying to find solitude in their world…however this was also taking place during a civil war amongst many groups of mercurians on whether they should stick to their traditions or embrace modernity and branch out into the universe.
The war wasn’t sparked out of the blue was was preceded by smaller conflicts over the centuries. Stelynne, Tyzonn’s mother, had both lived and fought throughout the years gaining a controversial reputation for herself, it’s said in legend that she “ripped” out the souls of her enemies and left seas of bloodied mercury in her wake, Tyzonn was raised for five years until Rugya up and left his wife and son amongst the brewing war, saddened by this Stelynne had to juggle fighting and keeping Tyzonn safe. She suffered a terrible blow in one of her later battles and entrusted Tyzonn with a rattle she gave him as a baby, it’s the only piece he has of her.
Up until he was eight Tyzonn lived in the planetarium with other orphans, Rugya had appeared after abandoning both his own wife and child claiming he was ready to oversee Tyzonn’s development. Although Tyzonn was pretty resentful of his father Rugya made sure to at least rekindle some ounce of a relationship between them, as the war brewed on Mercuria was pretty much of the brink of turmoil and Rugya decided to help train Tyzonn for what lied beyond this world.
The rattle Tyzonn kept was actually a staff owned by his mother, strong enough to pierce through many forms of elements…even mercury, one would call it a “soul piercing” spear. As Mercuria fell into ruin Rugya led his son into a group called the IERS(Intergalactic Emergency Responder Squad) which operated mainly on a spaceship. The faction they were in consisted of other mercurians that were neutral or tired of the endless fighting, Rugya would train his son in the arts of fully honing the skills of absorbing energy and utilizing Stelynne’s staff.
Tyzonn continued studying more on the mercurians beliefs about a soul and even helped some of the surviving members amongst the ship gain some ounce of hope back, he’s been through so much chaos so far in his life that he believe in the idea of a middle ground. To have better mindsets when it comes to uniting as a singular group, he just wants peace through his life and the freedom to enjoy said things…though how can he really do that with his home gone?
As the years went by Tyzonn met a girl known as Vella and the two become well a acquainted, he found someone who understood him. It was going well until one successful mission resulted in Rugya discovering a mirror like cauldron, it contained essence…dark essence that he continued to study for unknown reasons, Tyzonn was called in on their daily training and asked to try and absorb the energy. He wasn’t successful and Rugya was very disappointed, Tyzonn continued to practice on the substance until it forcefully overwhelmed him.
This forced Tyzonn to finally absorb the mass of energy but it didn’t feel as if he turned it into something new, if anything he felt strained and restless for many nights. This terrible feeling all came crashing down as their mission group was sent out to investigate a mysterious cavern on an abandoned planet, the entire place was murky and lifeless with Tyzonn feeling on edge. Vella and Rugya stayed close but everything began to lose solidarity as three growling phantoms enveloped the cavern, they began wiping out the team left and right and in the chaos Tyzonn was separated from the others.
He was met by one of the phantoms and feeling the same energy emitted from its being he attempted to absorb it, that didn’t work but a strike from his staff weakened the creature and Tyzonn was able to absorb the thing at last. He didn’t understand what was going on with himself and during a run in with Rugya they got into a heated argument on what exactly was going on.
Rugya finally explained everything to his son, the fearcats. The Fearcats, an old and deadly species that was said to be the antithesis to the mercurians, it isn’t known where they came from but what Rugya knows is that they possess a similar phenomenon of a soul to the mercurians. While mercurians are said to purify energy once absorbed, the fearcats run on death energy within their souls that destroys matter and grows stronger through the chaos, a Yin Yang of sorts.
While there isn’t a great amount of the species living now there have been grunts and two members that Rugya has been seeking out over the years, Mig and Cheetar. Despite their strength they weren’t strong enough to pull off anything big against the mercurians which led them to living hidden lives in Mercuria. They decided to utilize the hate and clashing ideals as a basis to the conflicts that started the Mercurian War, to defeat your enemy is to strike at the heart…everything that Tyzonn experienced was because of them. But the idea of why wasn’t he able to purify their energy plagued his mind.
Rugya apologized for his absence as it was needed to prepare for this moment and to give Tyzonn the strength to keep going, a man claiming to fight in the motives of saving his own people but yet a captive in this destructive dance of just trying to exist within the universe. Sometimes he can’t even look his son in the eyes, just a painful reminder of…well.
Even through these moments the two tried to reconcile with each other but this was disrupted by Mig. The leader of the fearcats boasted about the progress made so far, Rugya allowed Tyzonn to escape knowing his son wasn’t strong enough to face the monster. He knew he wasn’t going to survive this fight but knowing Tyzonn would get out was all the contentment he needed within those last fleeting moments, he hoped that one day his son would end this cycle of pain. Mig decided to level the entire cavern and as Tyzonn was about to reclaim his team they were trapped under the rubble, he made it out alive without Vella and his team, rushing back to his ship he spotted Mig and the fearcat smirked as they locked eyes.
The thought of that thing existing made Tyzonn’s mind spin crazy, he was both angry at the idea that they were the cause of his races turmoil but also confused, why fight in the first place? However that was the least of his troubles. He remembered the mention of the other fearcat Cheetar and began connecting the pieces, Tyzonn rushed over to the base but was too late, their IERS post was infiltrated and the group of remaining members there were disposed of. Cheetar being the culprit, devastated by everything happening Tyzonn released a pulse of energy that destroyed the base leaving himself within the remnants. Cheetar was weakened by the attack and retrieved by Mig with both of them promising the to rid the universe of any other mercurians, the leader stared at Tyzonn’s supposed lifeless body in suspicions,
They should’ve checked before retreating because Tyzonn had survived and left the place on a ship that was intact, he was hellbent on finding those culprits, fully understanding himself, reclaiming his destroyed home and creating a place for the mercurians to live in peace. It’s what he’s been working for throughout the years and with the tragedies that befallen him it’s time to fully put the plan into fruition.
